Went to see the Roots and Boots tour with Mark Chesnutt, Aaron tippin, and Sammy kershaw. The sound was great for us. We sat in section D on the track in row 24. I would recommend sitting toward the back instead of getting the super close seats as you will have your hearing when you leave. The sound was a little unbalanced at first but was quickly mixed (thanks sound man) The venue could use a little paint here and there but I could stand to lose a few pounds too so we are not all perfect. Everyone was very nice and it really had a nice, home town feel. Video screens (especially the center one) were so crystal clear that I found myself staring at it and forgetting that Sammy Kershaw was below it. Loved having drinks available (drank coke and lemonade) right there so you don't miss anything. Probably the cleanest Porta potty I have ever used. Jackson County fairgrounds (for concert review anyway) A++ If you are looking for a brand new facility where everything is perfect, we are probably different types of people. Felt comfortable, was easy as hell to get to and get out. Parking was only 5 bucks. Lots of fair food. Would see a concert there again in a heartbeat. Side note--Don't base your judgement of how a band sounds from youtube videos. Everyone sounds bad on them and I almost missed probably the best concert I've ever been too (George Jones and Metallica included) because they sounded bad on a youtube video. Trust me. As a country singer, Despite what you see on youtube. Mark chesnutt, Aaron tippun, and Sammy kershaw can still sing very, very well. Thanks again Jackson County fairgrounds for hosting this. I would pay another 100 bucks and watch it again back to...
Read moreA little disappointed. A lot of kids unattended. I wouldn't recommend going down there alone at night.
We had an issue with a child not wanting to go on Rides at all after he had a Wristband on. They would not allow us to switch the Wristband out to his Aunt, who could have rode with his sister.
The Food I found to be way overpriced. I did see Police Officers there on Site. They were all in a group talking I'm sure having a plan in place of what if scenario happened. There was no Incident therefore, there was no Issue, thank God.
People at the Gate were wonderful, very kind and understanding. As well as the people in the front Office's. I had stopped in both places to see if we could switch the Wristband out, but was told no. From my understanding it was do to the Terms I guess with the people who go into the Fair and do their Rides. I may be wrong but it was wrong to let it a Wristband go to waste when the child had not ridden one Ride and it was within 25 to 30 minutes frame of us arriving.
Being on a limited budget we stopped at Citgo on Southwest Avenue and got Slurpees on the way home and the kids were just as happy so I was thankful for that.
There was also no signs indicating where the buildings were located or arrows or indicators. We endded up walking in a circle looking for the barns of animals and then happened to come across them. The Barn where people have their Awards on their items... I wasn't able to even see due to the timeframe we spent looking for the area.
The Rose Bushes were beautiful. They do need pruning although you can see the beauty in some of those Flowers. They were ...
Read moreThe usual country fair options. Went on Tuesday for $5 entrance fee and $2 rides. Tickets are purchased electronically through a kiosk and credits are put on a scannable card which you are charged an additional $2. I bought $20, enough for my 2 kids on 5 rides each. But one of the ride workers must not have been charging only $2 because they only got to ride 3 rides each then were turned away saying there was no more credits on the card. I dispose the card system, as it is too easy for them to cheat us out of money. And there’s no recourse as the line for the kiosk is always too long to recharge or check your balance. This would NOT have happened with paper tickets. We also went to the concert. We bought $20 grand stand tix. They hadn’t sold enough tickets for the show so we got to sit down on the track with the people who spent $40 or $60. Bonus for us but embarrassing for the bands who played to only a couple...
