Commoner South Salon — Local services in Jacksonville Beach

So after my last visit here my opinion of this salon changed greatly. I have been here many times and have liked my results for the most part, but this last visit changed everything. Let me also state, that I spend a lot of money when I’m there. This salon is not cheap and I never complain about the charges and I always buy some products or hair tools in addition to tipping 25%. So, first off, I booked my visit online with the owner selected as my stylist and when I got there, she passed me off to another stylist with not so much as a mention of it. I don’t know about everyone else, but when I book with a specific person, it’s for a reason. So not that they stylist she gave me to was bad per say, it was the disregard for the appointment that struck me. Then she and my stylist decided to talk negatively about other clients in front of me. I can’t say how much I hate that. It’s such a bad look. Back to my hair. I asked for blonde cool highlights. I for orange warm highlights. I knew when I left that I didn’t like them but I tried to ignore it. When I finally broke down and texted the owner to say that I didn’t love my results she proceeded to explain that it was my fault for having the wrong base color and it being too hard to lift. Ummmmm, no. I am well versed in hair and have used the same base color for my roots for years. And it wasn’t the root color that was the issue for not lifting. It was much further down. She also lectured me as to how it would be a charge for corrective coloring. So, as someone who again, is a repeat customer and spends a lot of money there, buys products, and tips well, I expected to be met with a “what can we do to make it better” approach. Or at least met half way or something. Instead I got a smug lecture about why it was my fault and I wanted it fixed, I needed to be ready to pay for it. I’ve come in twice now for a haircut with Hailey, and I’ve left so happy & excited both times! I have had really bad haircuts/experiences other places in the past and was really nervous when I first came in, but I trusted her and I’m so glad I did! She’s very knowledgeable and great at giving advice to help make sure the haircut you want will work well with the style/kind of hair you have! I did a regular haircut with wash and blow dry the first time and a dry cut the second time. I never feel rushed, I always feel important and like she is genuinely taking her time to do the best job she can. I love how she always checks in to make sure I love what she’s done and is always happy to make adjustments! Tegan is amazing! I am so glad she could execute exactly what I wanted and needed! Her consultation was thorough, and she explains everything in a way you can understand. She uses techniques I have never seen anyone else utilize. I showed her a picture of my expectation, and she went above and beyond. She is a perfectionist! To the point where she thought my hair may have pulled the wrong tone in the front of my hair, and immediately wanted to correct it if I didn't like the tone. I highly recommend Tegan, and cannot wait to be back in her chair in 8 weeks! I never re book that early. I am usually in the hair chair once to twice a year, if that!
