I have been living here from 2017 Feb. and will leave this Apt by the next month since I finally could purchase my own home.
I want to give 4.5 stars but I cannot choose .5...
Anyway, I would like to give my fair review from my last two year's experience.
First, like everyone pointed out shower -hot water issue, yes.. there was an issue. It did very bother me too. However, it has been solved recently. I never had an issue with hot water during last two month I guess. I think it is finally fixed from the last maintenance. Now I could get the very hot water instantly.
Second, I don't know why people complained about the maintenance service. I actually had a problem with my laundry machine. But whenever I requested through online, the team came in the next day and tried to solve it. They even replaced my entire laundry machine.
Third, there are some of review regarding the management team... I didn't need to reach out to them for last two years and I started to communicate with them recently for my lease termination. So far, they are very kind and patient. My lease should be end by the end of March, but I could not let them know if I will extend the lease or terminate since I don't know if I can buy a house or not. But they understood my situation and allowed me to extend one month lease.
Regarding the complaints for receiving back the security deposit......I don't know yet since I am still live here. I will update how it goes after I move out.
I like the most in this apartment was the Kitchen! All appliances are from GE cafe series..which is the luxury line from GE. And the plenty of cabinet storage space including the kitchen Island, pantry with all soft close hardware ..
Very convenient location, concierge, doorman, nice gym....although I didn't use the amenity facilities often since I am not that diligent and mostly tired after coming back home..but they are very good to have in the apartment.
Considering the rent price around this area, it is more affordable plus has more facilities. I did compare the price with URBY before moving into this apartment, but that was way more expensive at that time plus much smaller unit.
So, I would say I mostly was happy while I was living in this apartment - my unit has a den! so it was...
Read moreWe have lived at 65 Bay Street in Jersey City for more than a year and here the breakdown of what to expect:
The good: The location, apartment size and layout, appliances and building quality, friendly neighbors, friendly and helpful front desk staff, doormen and maintenance, overall cleanliness of the building, the gym is well maintained
The bad: Lack of community events: There is no community manager. The building management has failed to bring residents together and organize events. Neighboring buildings such as Urby have an extensive calendar of events throughout the month. The management is non-responsive to residents’ concerns and suggestions: Emails remain unanswered and the property manager is rarely in her office. Amenities: Pool access times are limited compared to neighboring buildings (Ex. Urby pool opens from 9AM-10PM vs 65 Bay which open from 10AM-8PM). Most residents cannot enjoy the pool before or after work during the week. Limited grill accessibility: There are only two grills on the pool deck and their accessibility is limited to pool season and hours. Neighboring buildings make the grills available all year long to their tenants. Pool deck is small and gets crowded during weekends and holidays. Outdoor area is very small and is closed outside of pool season. Booking private community areas is extremely expensive as it requires a 4 hour minimum reservation. The parking is very expensive compared to neighboring buildings. The gym closes at 11PM compared to neighboring buildings where it is open 24 hours. The indoor rooftop floor is closed after 11PM for no reason
The ugly: Major maintenance takes forever: A water pump issue took 2+ months to resolve, thus tenants had to skip hot showers in the morning and during some days couldn’t flush the toilet. The management’s response: Use the amenities floor shower! The building’s management is only interested in billing and filling vacant apartments but does not make effort to retain existing residents: Ex.: In order to force residents to reserve and pay for shared community areas, the management started turning off the stoves/overs in the...
Read moreIndividual units are nice enough but not enough to justify the price or price increases. They nickel and dime you for everything - pet fees, water fees, amenity fees, exorbitant fees if you want to reserve the common areas. Management does absolutely nothing for the community and aren’t resident friendly. The door to the pool has been broke for over a year, the hot tub always looks gross, the pool chairs are all breaking, it took them over a year to replace one missing dumbbell in the gym zero upgrades to a sparse workout area, only 2 grills for so many tenants and the one grills ignitor doesn't even work. There was supposed to be a poker room that never happened, the tv room always has tvs out, there was supposed to be a dog grooming room they never got around to. Constant turnover at the front desk (although most have been great). The floors are super cheap and are very difficult to keep clean, the countertops cheap and the sink sprays everywhere when you turn it on. No central air, no garbage disposal, no golf simulator, water filter in the fridge verse on the door. The area in general is nice and quiet but is sparse in cute shops, good lunch spots or anything cultural to do, the dog runs are all overcrowded and disgusting, almost no street parking for guests. The local CVS doesn't do a good job keep shelves full. The local gym Base you can’t even move because of all of the people. The shop right is constantly super crowded. It was good for the price but now they want over $5,700 a month for a 2 bedroom. With parking at over $300, all the random fees, plus gas, electric, TV and internet you can easily cross $75,000 a year just to live here. For that price you’re better off in Manhattan or Brooklyn where...
