I was waiting to write a review until I had gone to most of the instructors. Classes vary a good amount based on the instructor so here goes: Cindy takes the cake. I just have no notes. Her classes are challenging but don't make you want to die. She gives a few options (standing vs sitting), and she gives from tips as she sees what people are doing (chest up, shoulders down, where on the bike you should be) which I think is super helpful for beginners. Her music is great (always has some sort of throwback that I love), she usually has a little encouragement speech towards the end that I love and she tries to give shout outs to most people in the class which is a nice touch. I try to schedule my life around her classes at this point lol. If I was more athletic or potentially training for the US Olympic team, I would go to Jarrett's class. His playlists are the best but his classes are tough. I think the other day we sat in the saddle twice the whole class lol. however I always go to his classes when I'm trying to burn a crazy amount of calories. He's also super inclusive, invites people to go to taqueria after class, He's a good vibe. Don't believe him when he says "just eight more seconds" haha. Overall awesome studio, awesome people, everyone there is so nice. I've lost 6 pounds in just a month or so. I suggest wearing light clothes as it can get kinda hot in the studio but...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreTread carefully!
If I were you I would tread really carefully before committing to this studio for buying anything more than a single class! They'll lure you (and almost hound you) into buying a package and then when you do, and start using them, they'll be extremely difficult to work with when it comes to any flexibility/modifications.
As far as the "Premium Cycling" experience goes, that's DEFINITELY a stretch! They have multiple issues going on which definitely doesn't make the studio "Premium" by any standards. To list some of them for you, Iāve had situations when the water cooler didn't work, the shoes were stinking, the towels are almost always smelly, one of the AC units (towards the left side of the class) is broken, and this list goes on. Setting an expectation of a āPremiumā cycling experience is such a false pretense.
Update - they replied back with stuff that could have easily been handled offline. What took them to reply here was something I had to follow up email after email to get a response! So much for claiming what's...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI can't recommend CycleBar Jersey City enough. I joined in late-summer 2020, when all the gyms were closed due to Covid. They were one of the few places that offered outdoor workouts, which always caught my eye, while on my daily walks in downtown.
We are officially back in the studio now, which is great for anyone looking for a full-body workout in a high-tech theater structured room. You have the option to be on the leaderboard and actively track your stats, or simply ride for yourself and achieve those personal fitness goals.
What CBJC perhaps does best, outside of the excellent classes led by a diverse team of CycleBar stars, is providing a solid community atmosphere. Between the staff's customer service, friendliness of fellow riders, and creative corporate led challenges - like the current bingo game - I'm glad I became an Unlimited VIP Member.
If you are looking for a 45 minute spin class, that is so much more than just a workout, CBJC is for you....
