Blackbird Collection — Local services in Kansas City

I discovered this gem over a year ago and am so grateful I did. It’s one of those places I almost don’t want to leave a review for as it’s SOOO fantastic I want to keep it to myself. But gate keeping isn’t the Blackbird way. The support of small designers from faraway places is only one draw. The staff are beyond kind and welcoming and my favorite thing—they are honest. Tyler and Alex go out of their way to put items together but in a fun - absolute no pressure - way. And the owner, Amy, is a complete mastermind of all things fashion. I’ll be honest, I had two really bad experiences here that just left a bad taste in my mouth ever since. The items were poor quality, though they tried to convince me that good cotton is supposed to be completely see through when worn, and the prices are too high to justify it. Even if everything is ethically made and organic materials, quality and cost need to be taken into more careful consideration.
