Houndstooth — Local services in Kansas City

I stopped by this store on a recent trip to Kansas City. I was just browsing and thinking about an upcoming wedding when Amy offered assistance. I told her I had the requisite charcoal, navy, and light grey suits and she read my mind saying I was ready for a "fun" suit. I tried on a bright blue suit with peak lapels and really liked the pattern and fit. We looked at a couple of others that were also nice, but just didn't pop like the first one. When I tried on the pants, they were too small in the waist, enough so that I could not button or zipper. Amy said the waist can be let out without a problem. I was a little hesitant, especially because I was from out of town, but she assured me it would be no problem and she would mail the suit when it was ready. When the suit arrived I was excited to try it on again. It fits wonderfully, including the pants. Thank you very much for helping me find a fun 4th suit that I will use for an upcoming wedding. Also please give a special thank you to your tailor. He did excellent work on the sleeves, pants hem, and letting out the waist. I was a little worried that the waist would either not fit or it would change the proportions, but the high craftsmanship does not show any signs of adjustment. I will stop by again next time I am in Kansas City. ...

I visited Houndstooth to have a custom suit tailored for my wedding. I was a bit intimidated, but quickly got over it once I started speaking with the owner, Jeff. He was very laid back while still being professional and educational. He walked me through every step of the process with a smile. In an impressively short amount of time, they created the finest article of clothing I have ever put on my body. The suit gently hugged every square inch, yet I could move freely! It also LOOKED FANTASTIC! For our first dance, my wife and I did a choreographed east-coast swing which included several lifts and low squats on my part. The suit flexed comfortably through it all and I never even thought about it. Normally when I wear a suit I feel encumbered and stiff, but this suit defies everything I once knew. The other staff members I interacted with were welcoming, knowledgeable, and efficient. If I could give Houndstooth 10 stars I would! Thank you Jeff. You made me look my best...

Groom Suit I couldn’t find a light brown suit that felt right for my June wedding anywhere & decided to try a custom suit through Houndstooth. The process was great & I’m thrilled with the result. During the first fitting, they helped me & my bride think through the shades that looked best on my skin, the fabrics that would allow me to be comfortable in a 3-piece in the Kansas summer heat, & gave great insightful and advise (while not being pushy in any direction) on the many choices & details that go into a custom suit. My bride was a bit jealous of the experience by the end haha!

It always feels better to support local rather than buy online & the icing on the cake was learning that Houndstooth is a 3rd generation family business.
