Real woke foodie review. 8/5/21 was by far our worst dinning experience with the Taco Company. We eaten here three times previously. Tonight was busy, however they had plenty of wait staff; I counted 2 behind the bar and at least 4 wait staff, 2 runners and 1 hostess. We ordered drinks outside and wait the alotted time to be seated(20-25 minutes outside). Once seated, we then again waited for another 20 minutes. We watched people seated 5 minutes before us order, and recieve food. Played 4 games of headz up... discussed an upcoming road trip, while smiling at every wait staff who avoided eye contact. At the 30 minute mark inside, I went the bar, and asked to make a to go order... the bartender was like he'll get a server immediately. We wait for about 2 minutes, staff comes by, no apology or intro( I still don't know her name)and we order chip salsa and food(same time). Asked for the food to come out 10 minutes after our chips. We got water at the 40 minute mark at the table. Chips come, and we eat them all, cause we are straving. We debate leaving, and decide against because it can't get worse. Wrong....we been here for over an hour. Wait staff has not checked back more than 1x. The bar tender stops by, and while nice he repeatedly touches me, on my bare skin. A member of the wait staff stops to apologize, since they don't have "set" tables, she said they basically ignored us. Okay, cool. Still no, food. I order a queso, to be brought out asap asked for a refill on the chips and salsa. Our wait staff ask if we want to move to the bar. No, just don't forget us. We are beyond the 1 hour mark minutes at the table, food comes beans are cold. Queso has not arrived. Everything else is warm or hot, do we eat cold thick beans or do we flag down someone to get hot beans. We need hot beans in our lives, hilariously right then queso comes out, we are into our meals.
Overall, the service made me want to cry, cringe(human, your actually touching my bare skin, and your hand is either wet or sweaty) and give 0 stars. The food is good, but the excuse that it's rush hour for a 45 minute wait for water is a little cheap and well real dry. Everything felt like a hassle after being seated. Wait staff interaction felt like she didn't wait us as a table. And honestly, this place looks inclusive, has a trendy vibe, sitting kinda felt like that whitewashed dinner in the 30s from lovecraft country aka order at the back window type feel (educate yourselves please). We didn't get ran off like the show, but it felt bad.
Payment: I try to apple pay like my previous visits... it turns into a complicated group chat with the wait staff, on if it can be done... ugh yeah I did it last time I was here. Is that a square I see... so, I just went to the car got my wallet. Then brought my card to the wait staff I walked it to her and paid. So we could leave.
The bill was 78 and I gave a 25% tip, that no one earned. The other times, the orders were wrong, or missing items. I had to ask to be refunded on food, I didnt recieve on a pick up. It looked like queso, but was slaw. I shop and support local, but I will not grace this place again. They have good food, bad service and lots of excuses. They might need to watch a training video on unconscious bias and personal space or something. I rarely give bad reviews, unless the place has truly and honestly earned it. And tonight they are receiving a F+. They have a great rep, and I wonder if it is on the graciousness of friends and drunken folks, because the drinks are suspiciously strong due to the line.
There was a comp for the large bean because of them being cold due to new kitchen staff. I guess I should have made that amount the tip. Because honestly, we actually enjoy them once warm(they were not hot).
I did not photo the food, because it looked delicious and may make you want to...
Read moreFirst, I'd like to say that im surprised to be writing such a horrible review for a place that I've visited several times and NEVER experienced what I experienced during yesterday's visit. My friend and I arrived around 5:00ish, we were greeted right away and asked our seating preference; we chose the bar. We each ordered a drink, and the bartender made them (not as good as the man other times I had been), but we did not complain. We proceeded to order 2 appetizers, which came out in a decent amount of time. Maybe an hour passed and we decided to order our main course....THIS IS WHEN EVERYTHING WENT TO HELL!! We both ordered tacos and 1 corn. we sat talking and drinking, about 30 minutes into waiting, a friend texted requesting a to-go order. I ordered from the bartender just the same as I had ordered my tacos 30 minutes prior....1 hour passed... We waited about 20 more minutes (1 hour and 20 minutes of waiting) My friend had other plans afterwards and started to feel like she would not make it we asked the bartender "hi...can you ask that all of our food just be made to go? We've waited over an hour, and we have other plans....." at that moment your INCREDIBLY RUDE BARTENDER (tall, thin, white male, blondish hair, mullet, with glasses) started YELLING at us saying "NO...WE ARE NOT GOING TO CHANGE IT...THE KITCHEN IS NOT GOING TO MAKE IT TO-GO....YOU DIDNT ORDER TO-GO AND THEY ARE NOT RE-PLATING YOUR FOOD"!!!!
This guy actually yelled at me and humiliated us because we had the audacity, after waiting so long, to ask for it to go. He was very, VERY, rude and spoke to us like we had done something wrong by simply just coming in for tacos. he continues to yell "YOUR TO-GO ORDER WILL BE UP IN ABOUT 15 MINUTES" ....to that we both replied "WEVE NEVER GOTTEN OUR FOOD THAT WE ORDERED 1 HOUR AND 30 MINUTES THAT WAS TO STAY" he began to shuffle around and like he was so agitated and flustered. He is now REFUSING to even look at us, refresh our drinks or anything to the point that I had said "excuse me, sir (holding my credit card up) SOOOO MANY TIMES that the guy sitting next to us yelled at your bartender "DUDE THIS YOUNG LADY IS TRYING TO PAY YOU"...here we go...yet another tantrum...."WHEN THIS PLACE DECIDED TO EXPAND THEY EXPANDED EVERYTHING BUT THE KITCHEN SO THE KITCHEN CANT KEEP UP WITH THE ORDERS SO ....SORRY"! At this point, he handed me a check for what we did receive and against everything that I stand for I did not tip! KC Taco, please understand that this was the absolute worst I've ever experienced, I actually slept on it and still woke up angry, and I won't EVER patronize your...
Read moreI’ve been eating Kc taco for years and it is not the worst place but not the best. I eat there infrequently these days because they don’t fix anything wrong. It’s a place I avoid on my own but other people drag me to. They’re coasting on location, tourism, and alcohol sales.
First off this is not authentic food so if you want “good mexican” go elsewhere. It’s not good non authentic food either. It’s basically food court or school lunch level IMO.
The food is okay. It’s nothing to write home about. It hits the spot if you’re hungry but they miss the mark. The mojo chicken tastes nothing like cuban miami mojo chicken. The korean pork tacos taste nothing like all the other korean spicy pork places. The shredded chicken is basically bland boiled chicken breast. The birria is more like yankee pot roast than birria. Again, if you’re hungry you could do worse but it’s not great.
The price is high. You don’t get rice and beans or chips and salsa and it’s still higher or the same as other restaurants . I can always eat somewhere else cheaper and get way better mexican, or even way better fusion food.
The service is very poor. It has been poor service for about 5 years. They clearly don’t care to improve and this is across the board—hosts, servers, bartenders, cooks. Incorrect wait times. No tables. Pickup food that’s 30 min past pickup and still not made. Cold soggy pickup food. Rude staff when you pick orders up. Rude staff when you eat in. Also slooooww as molasses always. They hire people that look like they’ve never had to hustle or worry about losing their job a day in their life.
And lastly, please stop putting foil in the bottom of all the takeout food so that foil breaks off and gets in the food. This is sheer stupidity and it doesn’t do anything really. The food doesn’t stay warm longer because aluminum is a poor conductor. And it doesn’t make it stay crisp. No one else does...
