DO NOT RECOMMEND FOR GROOMING SERVICES FOR ANIMALS WITH SPECIAL NEEDS!!! We have an 8 year old Saint Bernard who has trauma from previous Vet visits. He becomes very anxious when going into a setting that appears like the vet and is always very hesitant going into new places. I phoned Maser's to inquire about services and see if they'd be able or willing to attempt to work with my big guy. I explained to the person who answered the phone my concerns and they spoke with the groomer who said that they work with all dogs, sizes and temperaments and were confident in being able to get the job done. They stated I would be able to fill out a form to write out anything they should be aware of etc (our boy hates feet and ears touched). The day of his appointment I called to verify drop off time which was pushed to a later time of 11am without notice, had I not called we wouldn't have known. When my roommate arrived with him, he said the groomers/employees came out after completing paperwork and immediately tried to leash him with their leads and did not even attempt to greet him. At that point, Bennie (our pup) gave a warning growl/nip. He never bites or makes contact but will let you know when he doesn't like something, mind you all of this was clearly stated and documented and it was even offered that we help transition to the area he needed to be. As soon as this happened the groomer immediately reacts terrified and exclaims they aren't doing it, referring to the groomer and further stating he is "too aggressive". Now I understand and can validate fear, however, our Bennie has never bit anyone and is probably one of the most gentle giants you'll ever meet. As a groomer I think being prepared to handle situations such as this are necessary. I think the situation could have been handled more professionally and with empathy rather than treating my dog like he was some monster, it's completely normal and within reason for animals to act this way as they cannot verbalize their fears and concerns in any other way. I'm not upset that they made the decision not to groom him, I want anyone to feel safe or comfortable, it's really about how they reacted and treated us as a whole. Do not boast that you can handle any situation and then cowar at one of the most common and act surprised/shocked when the animal does exactly what the pet parents warned you of. I ended up finding a phenomenal groomer in Lynnwood that was absolutely amazing!! They commonly work with pets that have been banned from other groomers and/or vet offices for nail trims etc. They got the job done in less than twos hours (to ensure he would beat the rush of other pets to avoid any extra stress and anxiety) and Bennie also gave a warning growl and nip at arrival except they listened to us and allowed us to help bring him back and greeted him with love and without fear, they also reiterated how common and normal that is for most dogs no matter the breed/size. They ended up saying he did extremely well and cannot wait to see...
Read moreI'm pissed. My mother has been taking her collies here for many years and knows them, she supports them. I do not. I've had it. I've given them two chances and that was all I could handle. Both times I was talked to like I'm an idiot owner. Their lack of respect and general knowledge on customer service is laughable. I work in pet care and training, unless the animal is in pain or serious neglect than not it's none of your business to tell an owner how to be an owner to their pet. Because my mother is a patron, they seem to forget that I'm an adult in my mid twenties with my own dog. My dog. Not my mother's. They did not address me as the owner simply because my mother offered to pay for his grooming this time. It is my dog, you talk to me. BAD COMMUNICATION. DOES NOT KNOW HOW TO TALK TO CUSTOMERS. DOES NOT GET PERMISSION FROM OWNER BEFORE SHAVING YOUR ANIMAL. And apparently does not know when to call the owner and say, your dog has had enough (or they have) and we don't want to stress him out so we think you should come get him. No let's just work through it with zero consideration for the animal despite the fact we think we have the liberty to take action on what we think is best for your animal. What is this backwards logic??
I've sent the word to the PNW Samoyed owner group to not use Maser's. They're all horrified any groomer would shave a Samoyed without getting permission first by the way. Good luck to my mother, I'm never coming here again.
Oh and to anyone wasting your money buying bullystix from this store, they sell them in bags for way cheaper at Costco. They got snarky with me when I pointed it out to my mother one time. Not my fault you charge too much.
Thank you Maser's, for traumatizing my dog, myself and all Samoyed owners in the Seattle area. Two chances, I'm not wasting my luck on a third. Please learn how to communicate with customers and have a better work ethic without the judgmental attitude.
My dog's co-owner is furious they caused potential health concerns we gotta worry about now with his coat gone. Expect a few angry...
Read moreI'm pretty disappointed with them. My husband's family has been taking all their pets to be groomed here for decades. I've taken my dog here before and they did a great time in the past. This time though.....worst hair cut I've ever seen. I live two hours away so I don't mind making the drive if I know I'll get the result I request and expect. So not only did I waste gas, time and money for a chop job, they were also rude and came up with a bunch of excuses when I pointed it out. I picked her up and got her in the car and noticed her fur was choppy looking EVERYWHERE. I brought her back in and showed one of the ladies how uneven it was and asked if they could fix it because I live two hours away. That young lady took her to the back and not even 5 min passed when I had another woman (with red hair, bigger) approach me while yarding my dog aroind behind her telling me they did the same thing they did last time. To my confusion, I asked why it looked so different this time than last time and she started rudely listing reasons like: dogs have cow-licks like humans and some other reasons that honestly felt like poor excuses. She told me she could cut it lower but it wouldn't make a difference. Not wanting to give her the option to make a bigger mess, I passed at the offer; understandably. I'm so disappointed with the grooming service and customer service. I won't bother making the trip down anymore. I only rated two stars instead of one because they did leave her ear feathers and whispy tail alone like I had requested...
