Southeast Sea Kayaks — Local services in Ketchikan

Had the best adventure with Lucas. First of all, his beard was amazing (I think the term is ugly cool). He was the nicest kid. Took a fast boat out to their home base house boat and my husband and I were on a tandem sea kayak. We have kayaked a lot in our home state of Michigan, but this is the first time we've been on a sea kayak that is steered by a rudder, but we caught on quick. We saw an eagle and eaglet, a seal, a starfish, ancient pictograms, and some of the most amazing scenery. Lucas was an excellent and knowledgeable tour guide. It was great to get away from the busy port of ketchikan. Afterward, there were snacks and drinks on the boat (a lovely touch) as we waited for our boat trip back to port. The captain asked if we were ok with prolonging our trip back to Ketchikan because he knew where some Orcas were spotted - and of course we'd pick Orcas!!! It was so amazing to see them in nature. It was one of my favorite excursions in Alaksa. I was worried about timing with the cruise - but I did not need to - nearly all their clients are on cruises and they will make sure it all works out with your timing. My group of 3 did Clover Pass kayak excursion with this company and we all had an awesome time! David was our guide and unlike some guided paddles I have been on, he took the time to understand the group as well as what our goals were for the excursion. We decided we wanted 100% animals and were happy to paddle around…we did just that! He let us help him decide which way to go and had so many interesting factoids the whole time. We saw eagles, whales, and sea lions!

Our group included someone who has never kayaked as well as an experienced paddler. David spent time going over safety precautions and tips, I think all of us were experienced after the paddle!

I couldn’t book with another company after the positive experience I had. They gave us raingear that was in perfect condition, it actually rained for a good 20 minutes but I stayed dry and warm with the gear!

Major plus, they had snacks as well as some gluten free...

We had a wonderful time with this company! The fast boat was right off berth 3 which happened to be where our ship docked. They texted to let us know when they would be there to get us. Once on the fast boat he told us we would be seeing orcas in under 10m- which we did!! He stopped the boat for a while so we could get videos and pics while watching the pod play. He continued on to the catamaran. Once out there we were greeted by two awesome people who got us suited up and in the kayaks. Karis was amazing showing us around the cove and telling us about the wildlife. Once back on the catamaran they had coffee/drinks and from seafood dips and smoked salmon waiting for us. The fast boat picked us up and once again stopped to let us oogle at the orcas for a while. This time they swarmed around us. It was beautiful. We had such a wonderful day!
