I want to give an honest review of my experience living here over the last 6 months because I know I would have appreciated this type of review when I was looking for an apartment 6 months ago!
My top priorities in an apartment at the time were safety (both of me and my car), privacy, in unit washer/dryer, and a good size/layout of the apartment.
I will say that in all of those areas, this apartment has exceeded my expectations. The building is very secure and I always feel safe (priority number 1) and I feel like I have great privacy. The walls are thick. I have never heard my neighbors. And I have a quiet view of the inside of the apartment building. Very relaxing and calm where Iām at, though I hear it depends on what unit youāre in. I also feel that the parking garage is very secure and safe, no issues there.
The neighborhood (Hollywood Blvd) is a little bit of a different story, but you knew that moving to this area in the first place (or at least you should - do your research, walk around a bit).
That is one thing I will say (no fault of 1724 Highland!), but if you value living somewhere where you can take a quiet walk outside (without tourists and homeless population)ā¦this isnāt your place.
But, it is also nice being walking distance from Starbucks, 7/11, various restaurants, and LA Fitness.
Layout and size of the apartments are very generous. Also the maintenance team is excellent and speedy. They always fix things same day or the next day if you submit a late request.
The ONE reason I took off a starā¦the elevators š. There are several elevators throughout the building, and one or two breaks about every 4-6 weeks. And then it takes about a week to fix. Sometimes both elevators near your apartment go out at once. Very annoying. Especially when you live on one of the top floors (hello, stairs!) I hate to put this in the review, but it NEEDS to be addressed and this issue needs to be fixed or at least greatly improved by the apartment communityā¦
Nice gym, pool and spa. And I love the business center for getting work done.
All of that being said, I would still choose to live here again this year given what my priorities were at the time if I could go back in time and tell myself what to do.

Ā Ā Ā Read moreFor 4 years, I called 1724 Highland my home. I moved in during COVID when the neighborhood was quiet, but as the COVID-thaw set in, I realized the mistake I had made. Every year, I tried to tolerate the many issues that plague this property. First, this property claims to be smoke-free (cigarette, marijuana and vape). Whatever your feelings on the subject, realize that the fire alarms are very sensitive, which means you will be woken up endlessly in the middle of the night because someone decided to disregard the smoke-free policy and light up on the balcony. And the alarms will sound for however long it takes the fire department to report to the property. Management does nothing about it (they will give you an ear full but nothing will materialize). If you work from home as I do, this will disrupt your business because it happens during the day too. Also, Mgmt has āannualā fire alarm check (seems to be every other month), which allows them to inspect your unit whenever they want ā whether youāre present or not (very suspicious). Second, the elevators are nearly always out of service (the higher up your unit, the more I hope you like stairs). Third, is the area itself: homeless camps line the streets, crime is unbelievable, tourists treat the neighborhood like a port-o-potty (including the 1724 Highland garage that smells like urineāthey allow the public to park on the first few levels), and performers blast music on Hollywood Blvd for change at all hours of the night (including religious zealots that blast their message on a microphone...and sing too!). Hollywood has its challenges, but do yourself a favor if you need to live in Hollywood as I did: stay as far north of Hollywood Blvd as you can (and as far away from Highland as you can). The traffic congestion from the Hollywood Bowl, the many movie premieres that shut down the streets, and the annual Christmas Parade will make getting in and out of your home exceptionally difficult and time consuming. Took me 45 minutes once to travel a half...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreAbsolutely the worst management company Iāve ever dealt with in my 20 years of being a renter. They have constant security breeches where your personal information or identity maybe up for grabs. I had my federal tax returns stolen from my personal mailbox along with my identity. They will lie and manipulate any situation to their favor. They will steal, lie, cheat and do nothing to help you if the blame is on them. I was paying for a storage unit in the parking garage where there was a massive pipe burst and flood all of my life long cherished belongings were completely ruined and unsalvageable I was out of town when this happened and Catherine and Michelle the property managers lied and lied saying it never happened and going as far as committing insurance fraud to try and cover their lies and not be held accountable for their mistakes. I had a year and half battle with my insurance company who was not paying my claim due to the lies and coverups of Redwood Urban. Thankfully a very kind neighbor whoās car was damaged in this flooding and also not made aware of any problems as they were happening had taken a time stamped video of the pipe bursting and flooding the whole 3rd level parking garage and rite above my storage unit!!!! These people should be shut down they way they treat their tenants. BBB has so many complaints and pending lawsuits Iām not sure how they are still operating!???... They do not care about you or your hard earned money you give them every month . Iāve lived in LA my whole life and not once had a problem at any other high end building except this one! Identity stolen, tax fraud 6 years almost to repair the damage caused by them by mot protecting my personal information, insurance fraud.... like I said Turn Around...
