I got my hair done here in May by a young asian woman— forgot her name. She was the only stylist available, so I let her work on me as I didn’t know what was to come. I went in for a U shaped cut and to get my hair curled. The girl used some weird techniques to cut my hair, but I assumed she knew what she was doing. My cut came out uneven, she barely cut anything at the bottom. When it came to styling my hair, she did the opposite of what the owner did. My hair needs a lot of product, and she applied very little. She also had to diffuse my hair in a downwards motion, but instead she kept blowing my hair upwards… causing it to go everywhere. I have 2C hair. So my hair literally looked like I had curls, but I had gotten into a jumper, bounced around and then slept in them. I told her I wanted curls and she gave me a mess. I even asked her if that’s all she could do and she said yes. It wasn’t until the owner saw me almost get out of the chair when she came to the rescue. If she hadn’t, that look coming out of her salon would’ve been extremely embarrassing. Anyways, the owner saved the look, I would caution you to get your hair done by the other woman. NOT A FUN EXPERIENCE! They also talk about people after they leave. Very immature mindset and unorganized, she definitely needs help! Had my appointment at 3:15, left at 9:30PM!!!!! 6 hours for a 3 hour job (which was highlights and cut on a PIXIE; the shortest of short haha)🤦🏽‍♀️🤦🏽‍♀️. They will have you over-waiting on a chair with product on your hair because they take on too many customers at once instead of focusing and giving proper attention to each customer. On top of that, she wastes time talking, literally stops working while holding scissors telling stories while having 4-5 people waiting on her to get service because the ONLY helper that she has only mixes products &cuts hair sometimes. Lol she gave me a discount for the wait but didn’t tell me how much off, didn’t tell me how much she was charging me or for what service, but at the end I didn’t like the color, didn’t like the rushed hair cut, and didn’t get what I want. I was a first time patron. Maeven was very professional and had 20+ years of experience. She addressed all my requests and gave me a gorgeous cut. She also gave me tips on hairstyling since I expressed I am quite challenged in that department. She was very patient. I really appreciated that. One can tell she has a true passion about her profession. Way to go for a self-made boss babe! Street parking only. Shop is in an area of dtla that is bustling during the day but get really quiet after dark. I walked there at sunset for my appointment & ordered ride share afterward. She locked the door during our session and we had a great little chat while I waited for my ride. I recommend her service and would return for another hair...
