I just found this place yesterday around the corner from my facility and considered it as a place where well to do trendy people can meet on a rooftop and vibe considering being downtown. So today I thought it would be a good idea to bring a prospect I have to formally meet, chat and have a potential interview.
After arriving I was disrespected and mistreated here about my scooter not being allowed inside so I took it out. No problem. Although at so many places they could’ve kept my scooter safe especially at a “fine” Hotel you would think.. I’ve been treated better at McDonald’s. While I was coming to meet my guest I was made wait outside instead of in the air cooled lounge area, where others were gladly escorted and allowed to wait on their parties. I was told they were at full capacity and had to wait outside in the sun. The individual I invited was a prospective employee I was looking to formally meet and give a job interview. It was extremely troubling that “my” prospective employee was allowed inside while I his potential employer was told they were at capacity. Corey FaceTimed me to show the seats that were available and that they wouldn’t allow him to retrieve me without closing his balance at the bar which would ultimately face him to leave the bar and lose our seats strategically losing our availability to be inside capacity an ultimate chess move to be put out.
Stefan Julian and Mellisa as a team played this so well and all left me feeling disrespected discriminated played against and unwelcome, while I remained calm well spoken and respectful. as a group they continued to find reasons to refuse me service in the most professional manner.
i haven’t been treated this way in a while. And I’ve been to dozens of “fine”establishments across the world.
This is a nice establishment for people that aren’t black it is ran-or owned by older whites who I’m sure have generations of money. People who still haven’t adjusted to the current culture.. expect forms of racism and to be treated funny until they see that you can speak on their level.
And another troublesome side note Julian the security would allow me to stand in the shade and forcefully approached me as if he was going to physically harm me for standing...
Read moreThis is such a lovely and beautiful venue! The views from the top are of Los Angeles city and all the lights make it magical. We ordered a little bit of everything. We got a foccacia, avocado bruschetta, piri piri chicken, carrot tacos, steak frites. Everything was absolutely delicious! Our waitress was attentive but seemed a bit moody like they didn't want to be there or like they were annoyed. Maybe they were having an off day. I don't know. We did have a good time however, I was not happy about the valet. I'll give 4 stars instead of 5 because of it
We arrived about 20 minutes before our reservation and Valet parked. They told us it was $17 + tax. Because we were a bit early we they told us we could wait at the bar downstairs at Caldo Verde. It's a beautiful bar/restaurant. While waiting, there was a power outage and power came back within a minute. When it was time for our reservation we went to the front and they told us to wait a little longer because the elevators were not working. So we went back to the bar at Caldo Verde. About 10 minute wait... then once we got up it was another 10 minutes until we were seating. Our reservation was at 8:30 and we were seated at 9. We stayed till about 12am. I'm saying all this because when I went to pay for the valet, they told me it was $28 because the $17 was for a 3 hour stay. They never told us this. When leaving, I did see there was a sign with small print which stated it was $17 for 3 hours but would have been nice if they told us this also instead of make it seem it was a flat $17+ tax. The fact that 30 minutes was the fault of the venue delay should not have been billed to us in the valet and they should have...
Read moreTerrible service, especially for a hospitality hotel. I dined with a larger party for a birthday, and they required a minimum of $100 per person or $95 pre-fixed menu, which is expensive but fine for a big group.
But I requested a specific section of the restaurant weeks in advance. The day of my reservation, the manager of the restaurant calls me to confirm the area; he has the wrong area confirmed. After I told him the area that I spoke about with Tricia, the reservation manager at the Proper Hotel (who has a huge attitude problem), he was accommodating and promised to get me that table.
That night, we didn't get that table. He put me in a completely different area that we spoke about over the phone.
The elevator hostess was rude to at least 3 of my parties who all said she didn't greet them warmly at all. She told one of them his car was going to get broken into in the parking lot. Another person told her our reservation, and she responded with "oh" like she didn't know who that was or was confused about it.
Our waitress for the night was unfriendly. Drinks took 45 minutes, and we didn't dine for another 1/2 an hour after that. Food was mediocre. No one finished any of our plates. The only dish that I did enjoy was the piri piri chicken. Focaccia was not traditional focaccia; it looks more like pizza. Lamb chops were too chewy and meaty, mussels were not good.
Terrible service for a hospitality hotel restaurant. I would not recommend at all. The view is pretty, but I am so disappointed with this line of the Proper. Especially since I live in DTLA. Bring your big party to Dama or another business with a...
