Level: Where Every Stay is a Mission Worth Completing
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
In the heart of downtown Los Angeles, where glass towers pierce the sky like monuments to ambition, stands Level—a sleek fortress of modern luxury that would make even the most discerning international operative feel at home.
Cast of Characters
My reconnaissance began under cover of darkness, where the overnight guardian NEM orchestrates the lobby with the quiet precision of a master strategist. She moves through the shadows of the late shift with an elegance that belies her tactical awareness—every guest interaction handled with the kind of sophisticated care that makes you believe you're in the safest hands in the city. NEM doesn't just check you in; she initiates you into an experience where every detail has been anticipated.
As evening descends over the city, the prime time shift belongs to Jonny Romero—and if central casting were looking for the next Bond, they'd stop their search immediately. From 6 PM to midnight, he commands the lobby during those crucial golden hours when the city's energy peaks. With the easy confidence of someone who could defuse a bomb or recommend the perfect restaurant with equal aplomb, Jonny transforms the evening lobby into his personal command center. He doesn't just provide service; he delivers it with the kind of magnetic presence that makes you wonder what classified adventures await once his shift ends.
But perhaps the most fitting finale comes courtesy of Precious—because that's exactly what those weekend morning moments become under her watch. Like the perfect denouement to a high-stakes thriller, she ensures your weekend departure feels less like checking out and more like the satisfying conclusion to an exclusive urban getaway. Her warmth transforms what could be a routine weekend checkout into something genuinely... well, precious.
The Location: A Perfect Safe House
The Level's positioning is pure strategic genius—perched in downtown LA's prime real estate with jetliner views that provide surveillance-worthy sightlines across the urban landscape. These aren't just windows; they're panoramic intelligence briefings of the city below, offering the kind of commanding perspective that would make any international player feel properly positioned.
The Suites: Luxury Meets Functionality
Step inside these apartment-style suites and you'll understand why this would be the preferred safehouse of the world's most sophisticated operatives. Full kitchens equipped with high-end appliances that could handle everything from a diplomatic dinner to a quick espresso between clandestine meetings. The modern furniture isn't just aesthetically pleasing—it's the kind of clean, functional design that suggests someone who appreciates both form and flawless execution.
The walk-in closets deserve special mention—spacious enough to house not just an extensive wardrobe, but perhaps a few backup identities as well. Every detail speaks to a level of planning that would impress even the most meticulous mission coordinator.
Final Verdict
The Level delivers an experience that's simultaneously grounding and elevating—a rare combination that makes you feel like the protagonist of your own sophisticated urban adventure. Between NEM's behind-the-scenes mastery, Jonny's magnetic presence, and Precious's perfect conclusions, this isn't just hospitality; it's a masterclass in making every guest feel like they're living in their own high-budget thriller.
Some hotels offer a place to sleep. Level offers a stage for your most sophisticated self.
Highly recommended for anyone who appreciates when every element—location, design, and especially people—comes together to create something truly exceptional.

Read moreI am writing this email to communicate my remarkable experience at your property in LA over the weekend. This was my first trip out of Vegas since all of the craziness in this world began and the down turn began half-way into the road trip. I called LEVELS in the morning to confirm a 2 bedroom corner suite that I’d booked was all set (trying to get a floor number) and was told everything was set but couldn’t confirm the floor. About half way into, and getting a call to say due to maintenance that my reservation would get split into two 1 bedroom suites. We arrived late on Saturday to see about 25 people standing outside being checked by security (it looked like a nightclub) for guest entrance to the building. Valet let us know they would not be offering their services but that it was still the same $60/night for parking (almost suggesting we might want to park elsewhere and not pay). When trying to unload everything near the lobby was repeatedly asked to move my car. At check-in I asked again to see if there was no way to keep the 2 bedroom or maybe get a 3 bedroom. None of these were options – I got the room keys for the two rooms and signed the room agreement detailing music/quiet hours and a $1,000 fine for smoking or evidence of it in the room. The lobby was very loud and the elevator area was crowed with people waiting to go upstairs. The multiple signs that marked that it was 1 person per elevator or everyone in the same party/family were completely ignored and no one was enforcing that. Once we got into the elevator 2 other groups of people joined. People were easily touching. We got to our floor which stank of marijuana smoke and there was thumping music coming from a few different rooms on that floor (I think it was 9). After getting into the room quickly noticed that the floors were sticky (maybe beer?) there were no pillows on the bed, Netflix had been left on either from the last guest or cleaning crew, the fan was on in the bathroom and toilet seat was up. Pictures of all of that are attached. There were also no soaps in either room. People were partying on balconies and in their rooms and you could hear it from any deck. I’ve attached a video from the hallway. The following morning we had coffee and watched as one of the above rooms started throwing balloons filled with confetti off their balcony (probably around 30 of them) and as we left for brunch around 11am, noticed that someone had left their leftover McDonalds chicken tenders near the elevator windows and all over the ground. I mentioned everything to the front desk who apologized and offered no compensation for the quality of the property/room/experience but said he would block out a 2-bedroom room as originally booked for the last night. We got back around 9:30pm (did not want to stay at or near the property) and was told by that team that there was no record of a hold and that they’d struggle to find an available room. We moved to a new room (I believe on the 21st floor) which was communicated as a 2 bedroom suite. It was a 1 bedroom suite with a second bed behind closet doors. In this room the fire alarm low battery warning was going off and we called down to reception who said they were going to get in touch with maintenance to have someone come up. After about an hour I called back and was told by the front desk they couldn’t reach anyone and to just unplug it entirely from the wall “otherwise it will just...
Read moreI first stayed at Level the first month they opened and I fell in love with the experience. Since then we have had family and friends alike including myself several times over the years. All and all between my recommendations and what I myself have spent Level has made thousands of dollars and we lovingly haven't mind. The location, apartments, amenities have been incredible. This was up until this last weekend when a high profile executive stayed and had such a horrible experience I can no longer feel comfortable recommending level. It took 45 minutes to check in, kitchen didn't have all the necessary dishes and cutlery it once offered, elevators were dirty and running really slow and this is just to begin. Level has a wonderful pool area where guests and party alike could relax and have a wonderful evening of R&R along with celebratory come togethers. This weekend was expected to accommodate the same type of previous experiences. Our party wasn't doing anything different than other guests this past weekend. Yet for some reason security at level single our group out and without any warning or mention decided to knock on our room with an eviction notice. The reasons stated seem ridiculous and also correctable had anyone in the staff or security brought it to our attention. At 10:45 p.m. they knocked on our door with an eviction notice when we asked security why such extreme action instead of a courtesy call to warn us if we were being rowdy? They laughed in a mocking way said "your warning is your contract" Like criminals we were forced to pack our things the food we had bought for the weekend and vacate the premises. To be honest we feel Targeted because our party was lgbtq along with a friend who is ADA. No consideration given other than the humiliation and the last minute scrambling on what was supposed to be of friends bachelor party. We were no louder nor we engaging in any behavior that was any worse than everyone else on our floor in fact we were probably the party most contained. One of the main reasons for the eviction was that we had more than four people in the apartment we had nine. Only three friends we're actually going to spend the night the rest of us merely stop for the evening. I can no longer recommend level In any capacity without mentioning that after Covid this location has forgotten customer service and basic communication. You will not be given any kind of service, they are severely under staff and what used to be very courteous and respectable staff has turned into ghetto like staff members who use intimidating tactics much like a bouncer in some over hype nightclub. I cancelled several up and coming reservations immediately including my birthday weekend in Feb we're I had reserved a 2 bedroom suite for 4 days a total of almost $2,000. Way to go Level not only have you lost future business but you lost my business which when added it's probably close to $10,000 between August and next February. All because your front desk could have easily had a conversation with us to warn us instead of just kicking us out without a chance to correct it. Bad Customer Service is the ruin of all...
