I’m eager to share my experience to protect others. it was so unethical i began recording it quickly… I came in w some silver and gold coins/bars. i have a fairly large collection as i dont trust banks and regularly sell/buy gold. I handed him a 50g bar to start w to see how he valued it. He asked “its 50grams?”, i said yes. He inspected it then put it on the scale, it said 52g (2g of plastic covering). He nodded and then counted each gold gram of the bar (it is a swiss combi bar if u know their bars). He took his calculator and began typing numbers for an absurd amount of time (this is when i pressed record as i knew he was up to maliciousness). He finally says “i can give u $2500 for it”. I wanted to laugh but just said “sir thats worth more than $4000 at $2700 per oz spot today, are you kidding me??”… he paused and looked flustered then said “ohh i thought it was 25grams”. I said “no you didnt, you are professional gold dealer and you checked w me and the scale and then counted it, what kind of scam are you trying to run on me? how dare you!”. i stood up and said “i will take my gold elsewhere and leave a review of your unethical behavior”. He started stuttering “well, well thats because you stole it!”… i just stared at him saying “Oh so now u change and accuse me of theft w no cause!? But u were happy to steal it from me for $2500 until i caught you? Im going to report you to the State and Better Business Bureau and leave a scathing review”. Then i started to walk out, but he locked the magnetic door so i couldn’t leave. I was enraged, and he yells “ok how much you want for it!? i will give u $4000!”, i replied “but why would u lie to me and try to cheat me!?”, he said this exactly: “BECAUSE ITS MY FREE WILL TO DO IT”… omg i just stared him in the eyes and told him he was disgusting and to unlock the door or i was calling the police. He screamed at me again “how much do you want!?”, but i shookk my head and said OPEN THE DOOR IM GOING TO REPORT YOU. He unlocked the door and yelled as i left “never bring back stolen merchandise again!”. i just laughed and said “whatever helps u sleep at night”, and i drove down the street to another business in Beverly Hills, LA Gold n Silver and the guy immediately gave me $4050 and then i told him the story. He was appaled as well and said i must be careful in LA. i was visiting but learned alot. BEWARE THIS BUSINESS, enter at your own risk if you’re not educated on gold. Good luck. (i cant upload audio recordings here unfortunately but if u message me i can send it thru...
Read moreFirst and foremost I would not suggest anybody going to use this guy if you are trying to sell real gold the gentleman is out to try to make a buck and not to give you your value so I'm going to attach two pictures of the item that I brought in I brought in , a vintage long enough 14 karat solid gold watch from 1947 , he immediately just looked at it and said oh this is not real gold I said why don't you take a look a little bit closer bud because it's at 14 karat loginess watch and it's not gold plated it's not gold filled it's one of their admiral watches it's vintage and so he brought out some little gun and tried to like shoot the gun at the watch and then try to tell me that the watch is not gold.I said your probably not hitting the bezel correctly so what I want you to do the scratch test you know like want to scratch off a little bit put in the acid , "no no I'm not going to do that ."he says so I said okay well let's just hypothetically speaking I said this is supposed to have approximately 17.5 g of gold on it so if I came with 17 g of 14 karat gold what would your offer be on that he said it would be the price of gold minus our fee I said okay so the price of gold today for 14 karat gold is 3,017 per ounce he says no that's for "pure gold" and I said you have a nice day sir and I left I'm going to go ahead and attach a picture of the scrap gold calculator from today with prices for 14k gold . which is exactly what's shown, 14k is = to .58 purity and I guess he didn't realize that I researched it before I went in shows exactly what the gold price is which is exactly like I said 3017 per ounce per troy ounce of 14 karat so like I said the guys are swindler I wouldn't suggest using him unless you need to buy some crack then it's probably the great place to go he'll hook you up but I'm sure that's what most of his clientele are looking to buy Just to be clear it's the bezel that is solid gold on this I did not try to say that any other parts it's got a stainless steel back but it's a longines admiral from 1947 14 karat gold another thing he doesn't realize is I've already taken the watch for an appraisal value through the antique timepiece store in Beverly hills so watch out guys this guy is shady to say the least when I get the paperwork back on the watch I will attempt to post...
Read moreI wanted to sell my mother’s gold charm bracelet. My father had given her 20+ charms over the years from the same jeweler in Seattle. I went to Geary’s in Beverly Hills and they suggested an appraiser in Beverly Hills, where I went. The guy there was like a used car salesman, and tried to tell me some of the charms were “base metal” and not gold. He offered me a really low price and then tried to make me feel lucky he was giving me that much. Then he pulled the “I need to confirm with my boss” and came back and said he needed to retest all the charms. I watched him and every time they came up 14 or 18k. Then he said you can’t trust the machine and some were fake. That’s when I took my bracelet and left.
I had been to Hollywood Gold Exchange before when a friend died and I needed to sell her jewelry. I felt like I was treated honestly and got a great price for her stuff. I didn’t tell them my story, I just showed him the bracelet. He immediately said all the charms were, in fact, gold and a mix of 14 and 18 karat. He carefully tested each one, sorted them by grade and offered me almost double what the Beverly Hills guy offered!!! This place is great, the people are honest and I feel like I always get a fair...
