It has taken me months to write this review. I hoped my dogâs coat would improve- and I wouldnât have to leave negative feedback-but it hasnât.
Back in October 2021, I took my 8-month-old Pomeranian to her first grooming appointment. I had done extensive reading about the standards for grooming a Pomeranian and read horror stories of groomers who took the liberty of shaving dogs down. I did not want that to happen so I was diligent in communicating specific instructions.
I shop at Tailwaggers on Fairfax so I booked an appointment to have my Pom bathed and her paws trimmed. I originally asked for an ear trim but declined it after it was clear that the groomer did not understand the shape I wanted.
I brought shampoo for the groomer to use and gave them clear instructions that they were not to cut her coat whatsoever and no cage drying. She did not have any mats. I just wanted her to get comfortable with grooming and described my intense anxiety that they would mistakenly cut her coat. I left the store and was still fearful that they would shave her down so I called the front desk and confirmed that they understood my instructions.
I picked up my Pom and while they did not cut into her coat, she looked different. I got home and examined her and she was missing 50-60% volume of her coat. I called the front desk to ask what the heck did they do to her. The groomer had left for the day so he called me back the next day and said he had used a fixed rake on her coat to strip out the dead AND living undercoat and that he does that for all of his Pom clients. I was shocked because that is counter to everything I learned from my breeder and my online reading. I was upset but he had reassured me that the undercoat would come back in 6-9 months. We are now at 7 months and she still doesnât have her undercoat. I get frustrated every time I think about it. If you have a Pomeranian or any other double coated dog please take them...
Read moreI called to make an appointment to have my puppy bathed and to get her a haircut in preparation for her spay appointment. I spoke with Ayana and I explained that she needed a bath and haircut so she's ready for her upcoming spay. At the end of the conversation, she reminded me that I would need proof of rabies. This totally makes sense, but I explained that she is not 6 months yet and can't have the rabies vaccine yet. She said it isn't what they normally do, but that she would make an exception since she's not old enough for the shot. I arrived for my appointment and was told I had only booked a bath. I explained the literal point of the appointment was the haircut so she could be cleaned up for her surgery. The woman here basically told me too bad so sad and that I should be grateful they were even willing to take me at all without a rabies vaccine. I explained that I was up front about the lack of vaccination and had an entire conversation about my dog's haircut when I booked. She shrugged and let me go. It was as if somehow I was the problem when start to finish, this was their mess up.
Extremely poor customer service all around. What a shame. My dog will have her rabies vaccine as soon as she's 6 months old but we will go elsewhere...
Read moreOverpriced for a small dog grooming. It took me a while to write this review. I only visited few times here and I am not going back again. The part where am having trouble is where they cut my dog's front foot. It would be appreciated and helpful to inform your customers that you guys accidentally cut the dog therefore we can take immediate action. Took me about an hour after I left the groomers to encounter my dog had been hurt. The area was covered by his hair and I have noticed that when he was liking it. Mistakes and accidents tend to occur but being upfront and honest would help tremendously. The worst part I noticed that after I came home they did not gave me his report cart. I thought they forgot but it appeared that they erased the evidence. So that overpriced grooming doubled after a visit to the vet to prevent infection. To all, please do your research and ask questions before taking your pets for a grooming or daycare. Yes, the...
