WHAT DID I GET: I got the honeycomb ice cream shake with walnuts blended in.
HOW WAS IT: Pretty good. Not too sweet, and I could taste the honey, the cream and the walnuts in there; nothing was really overpowering.
HOW MUCH DID IT COST: For a small shake, it was pretty pricey - a little under $10.
WOULD I COME BACK: I want to because the shake was really tasty and enjoyable, but it's just so expensive for a shake.
I would've expected a shake like this to cost like a little under $6 maximum...$10 is just too much. I've had shakes elsewhere that were equal to or better than this, and they didn't cost this much.
WOULD I RECOMMEND THIS PLACE TO OTHERS: If you want to treat yourself to a pricey dessert, then sure.
The service was pretty friendly and helpful, but they need to do something about their straws; the shakes are pretty thick, and they are giving customers straws that are WAY too thin for a shake that thick.

Today I drove 25 mins out of my way to get this ice cream to share with my kiddo. When I walked in and asked for it the girl behind the counter just stared, blinked, and said “Noooo?” like, who left the door open and why are you talking to me?
I probably would’ve bought another flavor if she’d said anything besides that, especially since I drove so far. But I did not. I left the shop, went next door to Gelson’s and bought 2 pints of...

Van Leeuwen started in NY fifteen years ago and expanded into LA a while ago. They are one of many wonderful ice cream places to visit and enjoy a sweet treat. Their ice cream is rich and creamy and packed with flavor. They also have a robust selection of non dairy options. The waffle cone was amazing and very fresh.
There is a core menu of popular flavors, and they rotate in special flavors. I know I can get their ice cream in lots of LA grocery stores, but I'm always more interested in visiting the actual scoop shops.
This location is in an area with tricky parking. I can't admit openly where I...
