Read moreStopped in to watch the Saints game on Monday. Food was great, the service was prompt/friendly & the place has always had a fun atmosphere... My only real "complaint" is that the manager's a Steelers fan, & I was forced to watch Pittsburgh play on the main TVs & the Steelers are truly an embarrassment to watch this season... Kenny Pickett couldn't hit the broad side of a barn on most plays & he basically ruined one of the best WRs in the league! Before Pickett, Diontae Johnson was a Fantasy Football Nightmare Matchup! Year after year, he won me championships, so when BiG Ben retired & the Steelers drafted the hometown college football legend QB, I was just as excited as everyone else! I figured there'd be some growing pains (as their always is with upping Rookie QBs) but with that type of target volume, Johnson (who previously had been Mr. Automatic) wouldn't be affected, but oh boy was I ever wrong! Prior to Pickett, Diontae was a TD machine, but at the end of 1 year playing with Pickett, Johnsons TD total had dropped all the way down to ZERO! Like Pickett couldn't complete even 1 single TD pass. Meaning throughout an entire season, the professional QB who gets paid millions of dollars a year to simply throw a ball, couldn't successfully throw a ball to his #1 WR (who BTW's a guy who also gets paid millions per year to do little else besides catch passes & has been one of the best pass cachers in the league) couldn't catch with 1 single pass inside the endzone for a TD! Like, not even one! Which makes you think that it had to have been a fluke & as such, he'll get it right this next season the following year, but NOOOOOO! Instead of bouncing back in year 2, Johnson goes out & gets injured after making a nice 1st down catch & trying to get something going in a game PIT lost 30 - 7 week #1 of the 2023 season. Now Johnson's been sent to IR & it's all Kenny Pickett's fault.
So yeah, the food is always good at Birds. Just don't bother going on gameday if you want to watch a good game & the Steelers are playing at that time. Instead of watching the good game on the main TVs, you'll be forced to endure the Kenny Pickett Suckfest all up front &...
Read moreMy colleague wanted to try something new and suggested we try Birds. We always drive by and it’s packed with people. Usually it’s a sign food is good. Well for me I don’t get what the big hype is.
The place itself is cool. Didn’t particularly like a sign that they have on the wall that states something about loose women. Sure the sign comes off as funny, but might make some women upset. Especially now a days.
Our server was good, but seemed swamped as he had all the tables and a Buser to assist. He still remained attentive which was amazing.
We ordered fried pickles. They were some of the best I’ve ever had and their sauce was on point.
I also had the French onion soup. Not a big fan. Too much bread in the soup. You can also taste allot of butter from them toasting the baguette before they put in the soup. The soup itself didn’t exhibit much flavors. The mozzarella wasn’t very good either. Not sure what brand they use, but it’s definitely not of high quality. Also, this is one of the most expensive French onion soups I’ve had. For that being said…definitely not worth the price.
My colleague and I both had burgers. Yes, I know we go to a chicken place to get beef. The buns were dry. Meat was cooked perfectly, but had no salt or any flavor.
The Mac and cheese that came with my burger was exactly that. No effort, no wow factor, and no seasonings. Just pasta, cheese, and a sprinkle of bread crumbs on top. Box Mac & cheese is way better than this…lol.
I tasted my colleges baked beans. They were good with allot of smoky flavor.
All and all I don’t really know what the buzz is about either this place, because if you truly had people who had a good pallet this place probably wouldn’t be open as long as it has been. Not a fan and would only recommend the fried pickles with...
