A day of pure tranquility at the @kohlerwatersspa in @brvillage! We loved our romantic getaway here and loved their “All Things Kohler Massage”. My husband and I went here for our 10th wedding anniversary. I enjoyed the amenities and services we RECEIVED. However, I could tell something was bothering my husband. He said he was upset because when making the reservation on his initial call he mentioned to the woman that he would like a manicure and pedicure, a massage and whatever other services they offer. The woman said okay. Then my husband received a call a few days later explaining that they wouldn’t be able to do the mani & pedi and apologized. My husband said okay and asked again making sure that we were scheduled for basically all the other services they offer. The woman related she understood. Upon our arrival, we were both met by our massage therapists and brought into our rooms that were joined with a sliding door on the inside for a couples massage. The massage itself was so calming and relaxing. The pressure used was perfect. Both of the massage therapists were quiet as they moved our grabbed items necessary to complete the massage. There were techniques used that I’ve never felt before. It was great! Following it massage we were bright into the changing rooms and given a locker. I wasn’t sure of what else my husband was planning for our time at Kohler spa so I stayed in my robe and met him in the quiet lounging area. We then decided to go into the pool area and take a cold plunge and then relax in the hot water. My husband seemed a slightly confused because he wasn’t sure if we were expecting “more” from our time there or if we were done with all of our services. We both lounged in the quiet area, changed and then left. My husband was extremely disappointed with the lack of services provided given he mentioned twice to the receptionist what he was looking for and somehow even after they canceled our mani/pedi they didn’t think again to offer further services which was requested on both calls. Very unfortunate that this was our first time experience and it was our 10th wedding anniversary. We attempted reservations before and were canceled due to Covid shutting the establishment down. We still attempted a visit and were very displeased with the receptionist and the services offered.

After a stressful couple of days, I needed some spa love so being 15 minutes away from this location was key. Being here for the 1st time, I had a 3:30p appointment for a 50 minute massage. I was escorted to the men's locker room which was clean and nice. It wasn't super big but sufficient. Before I left I did take a shower here and it was nice as there were 3 different shower heads to take a shower so that was nice. I'm sorry I don't remember the masseuse's name but it was a very relaxing massage. She did ask what areas did she want to focus on and I mentioned my calves were sore. She did focus on it so that was nice. I felt relaxed as she did a great job. Afterward I went to the relaxation area to have some tea and chill. There were a group of two ladies talking a little loudly which stunk. Kohler makes you sign a paper to maintain a quiet demeanor while there. Then about 10 minutes later, some women to the right of me were chatting it up as well. I was a little annoyed so I went to put on my swim trunks and check out the amenities of the steam room and pool. First the steam room was nice but I did not smell and eucalyptus as advertised. Maybe it was a faint scent but usually I have a good sniffer for that. Afterwards, I hit the plunge pool which was nice at 8 feet. Then onto the pool with it's waterfall and jets. That was nice but what wasn't nice was as I was sitting in the pool for 30 minutes, towels were draped/laid on about 8 chairs. Going to the American Club location, that would never fly. Also there was a woman to emptied out the bin of towels but left the ones on the chairs. It looked messy. Finally I went back for more tea in the relaxation room and fast forward 10 minutes and there were about 3 women in the pool area chatting it up. It was annoying. I just wish this location was more diligent and ask the guests to shhhhh. That shouldn't fall on the patrons to do that. I tried it and i'm good not going to this location moving forward.

This spa has gone down hill, very disappointed on the experience have gone to this spa 3 other times before, so to my surprise this was one of the worst experiences by far. To start off when booking this appointment months in advance I was used to booking two services due to booking during the weekend. I was able to double check and found out I could do one service per person for weekend instead. I ended up booking two massages for me and another person. When booking and speaking to a receptionist I made sure to confirm the pricing and had asked if gratuity was included in the price and she had said yes. With that in mind it made me feel a bit better to let the other person know her portion. The day we came for our reservation it was on a Saturday came early to be able to use the cafe and the pool to relax. However, when we both went to cafe I had asked is everything being served since I could see they had lunch items as well. The lady had confirmed yes. I had requested a small soup and she said that we don't have that. I was confused due to me asking her if everything was being served prior to ordering, so to my surprise that was not an option, I was able to order something else which was fine, took a bit longer, However, it was fairly descent. Then we both went to the pool to try to relax, however there was a large group of women talking very loudly that we ended up having to go to the sauna to get some peace, however that didn't last long with women wanting to enjoy the sauna as well. So we ended up going to the relax room since the main room where everyone waits was pack and very talkative. Lucky got to enjoy about 20 mins of some peace before waiting to get our services done. We had to two ladies take us for our massage and asked us what brought us here and took us to a small room. I have had massages before and this was not the room they typically would do two people felt very cramped in this room. The massage therapist asked what kind of pressure and I did let her know I have tension so medium pressure would be good since I typically sit when working and she said I understand. She even said she would use hot stone. I told her okay, however, I didn't know if that would be an extra charge, since I have never been asked before when getting a massage. We both ended up getting ready to enjoy our massage, and her pressure was not medium, I had said you can go a bit harder , however she didn't, so I did asker again thinking she didn't hear me, and she didn't, not sure why? Then the bed kept deflating here and there I thought it was to adjust the way she would give the massage, which sounded loud, and the girl keep bumping into the bed, probably b/c of how small the room was. Over all I didn't feel relaxed if anything it felt tense after it, I was very disappointed. We then got back to the locker rooms and got dressed and then went to go check out. The lady told us the total and I told her that doesn't seem right , I confirmed with her what the cost was for the massages, and she told me. I said that was with gratuity and she said no we would have to add additional for gratuity. I for one, was not prepared and I had told her when I made the reservation I confirmed with the person I was speaking with , to where she asked me, do I know who I spoke to, and I told her no b/c it was months ago. She didn't even say I am so sorry for the miss understand. Just had an attitude and felt like we didn't care and it was in inconvenience for her and she wanted us to hurry up and pay. Regardless we ended paying, however I was so unsatisfied with the experience. I would not recommend this spa to anyone at least this location. The goal was to relax and came out of it stressed and more tense then had hoped for. If you book at this location be sure to keep in mind it is nothing like it used to be. For what you end up paying for, it is honestly feels like a rip off. Keep that mind and be sure when booking to remember or get the name...

UPDATING TO 1 STAR: yeah, since my treatment I decided to look up my most recent spa experience prices… both in town (Chicago- Waldorf Astoria) and out of town (Las Vegas- Wynn spa). BOTH luxury hotel spas, with better amenities, charge LESS for their services overall after comparison. No way should a spa in Burr Ridge IL with inferior amenities be charging the prices they command without upgrading their facilities.

I am a spa junkie. For the location, value, and relaxation, I can only in it conscience give this a 2 star. First of all, they are charging 5 star resort/city prices for being located in Burr Ridge. Yes, it is probably hard to find a spa located outside of a major city (I frequent spas everywhere I travel). However, the amenities were lackluster. It may be my fault, but I went during a “holiday” aka Friday. They charge a surcharge for weekends that count Fridays (additional $30 add on). That’s typical, but because it was a “holiday” it was quite busy. Good for business, sad for myself who wanted to escape from real life to relax. Overall, I think the layout/design of the space is poor. Given that they are in “suburbs” and space should be not as limited as city hotel spas, I was greatly disappointed. Doors kept opening and closing, loud parties voices carried over to my space. I had to move from their water area, which is not very large (their sauna is tiny, steam room slightly bigger), to their lobby sitting area, to their deep relaxation room. Even the deep relaxation room had noises from their pipes above periodically on schedule (a long whooshing sound). I came 2.5 hours before my service and I was ready to get it done and over with. My facial itself was very nice, and they use quality products. I’ll give them that. But for the cost, the up charge for holiday, and the fact that in the women’s locker room there’re only TWO toilet stalls and 3 showers (lol, at one point I counted over 10 guests in the lobby… imagine if we had to go pee/shower at the same time), I give this place a 2 star.

I would venture downtown to go to Waldorf, Peninsula, Palmer House, Chuan Spa at Langham, even Trump hotel for that luxury feel. I did not feel relaxed and leave dirt poor (even after a $250 GC, which was purchased 12/2022 and my husband was told that was enough to cover expenses….. I paid an extra $92 to cover it). The price booklet from 2022 was DRASTICALLY different than 2023. They raised their prices a lot. Be sure to look online at website to confirm the prices you see are accurate. I will not be...
