This was my first time dining here and it was a pleasurable one. We started out with a pre-dinner cocktail at the bar. I had a Chopin Vodka martini with blue cheese olives and it was made on point. My SO said his Negroni was good. The bartender was very pleasant.
Then we were seated at our table for dinner. We started with the baked goat cheese app and oysters. We got 3 raw oysters and 3 wood fired oysters. I'm glad our server told us we could do half and half of the oysters so we could try both preps. I preferred the baked option. The baked goat cheese app was delicious. It came with little crunchy pieces of toasts to dip and the cheese was very flavorful and gooey. I would get it again.
For my meal, I chose the Great Lakes Whitefish and got it simply grilled with the sauce on the side and substituted the risotto for green beans and carrots although I ended up getting green beans and spinach which was fine since I like spinach. I like places that let you customize your entrees or sub sides. It makes a huge difference and is much appreciated when you are at a restaurant spending a lot of money! My fish was light and tender and my overall entree was very good. My SO ordered the calves liver and onions, and said it was great. We also got an order of roasted smash potatoes to share. They were delicious too. Our server was attentive and super nice. The only thing I wish he would've done different was to bring out the complimentary bread and butter before the start of the meal so we could've had with our appetizers. He did bring us a complimentary dessert port wine which was very kind of him. Overall, we both had a great meal from start to finish, and we look forward to coming back again to try more dishes...
Read moreI can’t say enough good things about this restaurant. I came to Burr Ridge on business last year and ended up at Topaz for dinner one Wednesday night. The waited helped me pick out my meal and drink because I was exhausted and I ended up listening to Hector and his music for over 3 hours. The food was amazing and so was the atmosphere. I ended up back in Burr ridge on another business trip and went to Topaz last night. As Hector is there on Wednesdays, another gentleman was playing on a Tuesday. I had worked all had and still had another 3 or 4 hours of work left. The waitress helped me with the menu and drink. I was surprised to see calf liver on the menu and have not had it in ages. Ordered it and started working on my computer. The owner came over and we chatted. The weather was perfect for outside dining. The music was a very soothing background. I was able to get everything done for work, without being stressed out and annoyed that I am stuck working all night. The waitress brought me a limoncello on the house. I honestly could not have asked for a better dining experience except to not have to work. This is now my favorite restaurant in burr ridge and I will always make sure to go to Topaz on any business trip to the area. Thank you for making a crazy business trip...
Read moreLittle left to desire here. The ambiance when you walk in is inviting and modern. Now a days there is a lot of outdoor eating; for which, I recommend sitting nearest the fireplace. The bartender offers your beverages and special starters quickly. In fact, the service is the best part of the restaurant. The drinks are exceptional. Eat enough to have two or three maybe. The originals are exceptional, although I miss the wagyu strip steak they had. Which is an interesting omission considering they still offer the also delicious wagyu burger.
The fish skin could have been slightly more crispy but the crispy feta took us on a journey. They knew what they were doing... Only rarely do I get fish paired with mushrooms but the way they did it was amazing. The fresh delicacy of the fish transitioned perfectly into the rich and earthy flavors of the mushrooms. This also paired nicely with the bourbon cocktail they serve - "the peacemaker". My girlfriend was also very happy, particularly with the friendly and exceptional service. At one point I was given a steak knife and her a regular, but I had ordered the whitefish entre. The server noticed it the next time she brought our drinks before I even thought to switch it out in time. I was a lovely evening with a...
