After consulting with multiple jewelers in the area, it was clear that Christie's was the most professional and helpful store. The staff was knowledgable and I never felt like there was a quick sell to be had like I had experienced at all the other businesses in the area. After receiving valuable advice I decided to schedule time with the owner, Jim, to finalize an engagement ring for my now wife. I was expecting a quick consultation and had some ideas ready to go after the many visits with other businesses in the area.

I thought at first this would be a quick price check based on the experiences I'd already had, but wow was I wrong. I was a young guy (25 years old) and knew nothing about this industry, and was expecting the quick sell I'd been accustomed to hearing. To my surprise the experience I had was much different and focused more around education rather than showing me few options in my price range. Jim gave me an educational crash course in ring styles, diamonds, etc. and the brought out samples that I could assemble myself to make the perfect, custom engagement ring I was picturing in my head.

After coming up with a few variations based on the little information I could get from my then girlfriend, I decided on a piece. The education and guidance did not stop there! Jim asked my budget and said he'd have some custom options to show me within a week. He said he takes this feedback and passes this to dealers he works with so that it aligns with what I want and doesn't just find something off the shelf that is "close" to what I described. When I came back he laid out 3 options and said one was at my budget and the two others were below (all other businesses I went to showed me multiple options with my budgeted amount being the lowest price range of all options). He educated me more on diamonds and clarity and asked me to choose what looked best to me. As many young, soon to be engaged (hopefully) men, my first thought was, give me what's at my budget, but Jim refused. He said it's not the cost, but what I saw in the the ring/diamond that matters most and if it was an option below my budget than why would cost matter. At that moment I realized Christie's isn't happy with a quick sell, but rather developing relationships with people to ensure long term partnership in this area. After the much needed guidance I made a decision that I actually felt good about and could speak to the craftsmanship of the ring.

The engagement couldn't have gone better and my now wife was stunned when I described the ring in detail. It was an easy decision to get our wedding bands here as well as wedding party gifts which included beautifully engraved Citizen watches for the groomsmen and pearl necklaces, bracelets, and earrings for the bridesmaids.

Apologies for the long review, but after other experiences I've had, it's clear to me (and others I've referred), that there is no better place in not just CT, but all of the greater New England area to purchase an engagement ring or any other jewelry. Thank you...

Christie’s is amazing to work with! I recently lost the diamond out of my 32-year-old engagement ring. We were able to get in and see Jim immediately during the holiday season. He had all the necessary information from our insurance company and made this part of the process seamless. Jim understood the sentimentality of the setting. We learned about my original diamond and possible replacements. He showed us what a comparable "old school" or earth mined diamond would look like in my setting, as well as the option of a lab grown diamond within the price range. I have to admit both options were more beautiful than my original (which was purchased pre-Christie’s) We really enjoyed learning about the lab grown diamonds and ultimately decided on this option, choosing a beautiful solitaire. I lost the diamond during the second week of December and had my stunning new diamond on my finger Christmas Eve.
