We are from out of town, and visited the Bluegrass Island Trading company while we were exploring the town. When we walked in the shop, there was absolutely no one around. We could not find an employee, so we walked back out of the shop. As we were leaving, a guy walked in talking on the phone. I had seen a few things I was interested in buying, so we went back in the store. When I walked up to the register, the guy was STILL talking on the phone. It was obviously a personal call. He reluctantly got off the phone after I had been standing at the register holding my item for a few minutes. To me, his behavior was extremely rude. He did not say ' hello' or engage in any of the normal conversation you would have with a customer who is interested in purchasing items from your store. As soon as he rung up my purchase, he was back on the phone, out of the store and talking to the same person he was on the phone with earlier. We contacted the box office to verify this and were told that the rain check can only be used on the same day of the week for which your ticket was issued in 2015. The box office would not concede that the September e-mail did not say that. They also did not return several phone calls and e-mails that we sent, which I consider rude. We had to cancel hotel reservations and plans we had made with friends because we could not attend on the same day of the week for which we had had tickets in 2015. An apology for any inconvenience resulting from their not giving the full story in the September e-mail would have helped but was not forthcoming. Although we enjoyed the festival in 2014, we will not...
Read moreWe first came into the store to meet up for our Historic Manteo Lantern walking tour. Greg was our guide. We found Greg to be a wealth of information regarding Manteo and the surrounding area. As we walked throughout the charming downtown area and waterfront, Greg shared folklore and facts, all while engaging the group as well as including the children. We would definitely recommend this tour! I know it helped us gain a better understanding of the OBX area. We do feel that a deeper discount for children’s tickets would...
