This was our first experience in a B&B and they've set the bar high. The Cameron house is a wonderful place for two people to relax. If you've never been to a B&B read the following and it might help you decide:
Check-in: Easy! Show up between 3 & 7pm or call to coordinate. The manager gave us a tour of the house and explained the simple courtesy rules. We were the only ones there so we got to see every room and they're all gorgeous. Being off season, we were gifted a bottle of complimentary wine. Then we were shown to our room and given our room key. Each room locks and has its own full bathroom.
Room: All the rooms smell great and were spotless. Each has its own color theme and specific amenities. The bathroom is stocked just like any other hotel. The bed was very comfortable and all rooms are modern while maintaining the classic feel of a historic home.
Amenities: Cable Tv and wifi are provided and there are two gas fireplaces in the house. Board games, puzzles, cards and some books are available in the common area to share. Bikes, washer/dryer and a wood burning fire place are available for use outside. Cookies, cake, coffee, teas and light beverages are stocked for guests in the kitchen.
Location: The house is centrally located and within walking distance to a waterfront downtown area. Shopping, restaurants and entertainment are all close by and the rest of the attractions are within a 15 minute drive of the house (on season likely to take longer due to traffic).
Atmosphere: The atmosphere is warm and trusting. Although the house was empty besides us, it's nice to know the owners live within sight of the property and the manager regularly checks in on it. The house is large and comfortable easily accommodating multiple groups. The manager is very personable and did an amazing job making us feel at home and not like we're staying at a strangers place.
Breakfast: The breakfast was wonderful. Just be courteous and let the manager know if you won't attend or need a different time. The number of people staying dictates what is being served.
Summary: The Cameron house is a great place for your first B&B experience. If you're a veteran of B&B's this one is probably worth checking out. It's hard to imagine any other place that can top the service and quality. If we're back in the area at any point we'll...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWe booked a night on Expedia, we clearly put our information that we were a family of 3 with a toddler. After a fun evening on the beach we returned to Cameron Inn hotel which is run down and lacks luster. In the morning my husband was bombarded with questions from the host asking him if he had read his email to confirm our childās age which was not asked when checked in by the way. Though she was upset he explained that he elected for communication via text only. This horrible woman was extremely rude, unreasonable and racist, she told my husband everything was fine when he and toddler went downstairs as I was still upstairs getting ready. My daughter is mixed race and can pass for white but as soon as the host realized I was black, it was all too much for her. In front of the other guest she yelled how we are not allowed to sit with them and we can eat after in a different room when they are finished. This seemed quite extreme and aggressive as we were compliant as well as completely astonished by her gross behavior. We had paid $250 for a night with breakfast celebrating our anniversary only for our trip to be ruined by this hotel. We politely grabbed our stuff and left. We have traveled all over the world and stayed in better places and I refuse for my family and I to be...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreO my goodness! This sweet inn met and exceeded all of my and my sister's expectations. It is located in the heart of Manteo. Walking distance to restaurants and pubs. Safe to walk at night and just for a stroll anytime. The Sandpiper suite was where we stayed. It was beautifully appointed with a large bathroom with a tub and shower. There was a large closet and a handy dresser with a mirror. Several windows let in a lot of natural light, but curtains and shades got it dark for uninterrupted sleep on 2 queen sized beds. Our host, Mrs. Beth could not have been nicer, and she was so knowledgeable about everything in the area. Also, we had our own private breezeway with a fireplace and TV. We initially booked one night, but when we saw how nice everything was, and when we met Beth, we quickly booked a 2nd night's stay. We're so glad we did. We really wanted to stay longer, but our schedules didn't allow it. We will definitely be back, though! You absolutely must stay here! Thank you, Beth, for an...
