Touch of Elegance — Local services in Matthews

I almost didn't leave a review but because of the weird experience, I wanted to post this review as a caution to others... I tried to book an appointment last month, which ended up being confirmed through a booking site. It made me pay the full amount plus tip upfront before the service even started (maybe because I booked within 24 hours?).

I show up to the salon suite which is located inside of a buiding with multiple service suites. I end up waiting for about 30 minutes before one of the other suite renters asked who I was waiting for. I told them and they said they haven’t heard from her (also, it’s unclear if the owner of Touch of Elegance is Bridgette Carpenter per the other reviews, or someone named “Denise Carpenter”, per the booking site). They gave me her contact number, and I attempted to call it, just to hear one of those phone notifications that go “we’re sorry, but the number you are dialing is not in service”. Two other shop owners tried to text her for me, unable to get ahold of her. My husband (who graciously waited with me) even found her Facebook account and messaged her, received no read receipt or reply. At this point, I’ve already been searching for other salons that does relaxers. I finally find one and leave. I ended up having to do a charge-back on my credit card (always book with a credit card for issues like this, folks! I got my $$ back within 5 hours). Still never heard back from her. I hope Bridgette/Denise is okay.

I post this to say: maybe get voice confirmation from this owner before paying anything and wasting your time on a service that won’t get done. Fwiw, the listing of the business on the site I booked my appointment on (booksy) has now been removed, so maybe the owner forgot...

I had the most incredible experience at Touch of Elegance ! From the moment I walked in, the atmosphere was warm and inviting and purple :) My stylist, Bridget , was not only exceptionally talented but also incredibly sweet and personable. She made me feel comfortable right away, and our conversation was delightful throughout my visit.

Her skills are unmatched—she transformed my hair beyond my expectations, paying attention to every detail and ensuring I was happy with the result. I left the salon feeling amazing and confident. Ms Bridgett is my ANGEL. I was going thru things and not feeling good bout myself. She kept telling me to come by the salon to get my hair done. It took months for me to finally go and this wonderful, talented, so uplifting woman made me feel special and beautiful. She dyed my hair gave me a slam dunk hairdo and had me feeling like the most beautiful woman in Matthews and Charlotte. I will continue going to her and telling everyone I come across: If u want a beautiful hair style, relaxing environment,and feel good pep talks, please contact MS BRIDGETT WINDSOR SQUARE...
