Updated the review to reflect how my stance has changed. The youthful memories I've had at this park will forever give me a fond feeling for this space. I do wish the city put more care and love into its public spaces, as well as focused on helping people struggling with shelter and food insecurity. But I helped build the recreation station and my name is on it. I learned to swim at the aquatic center. And I've taken countless walks with family, pets, friends and loved ones through LCP. Read moreIt really is a good park, I loved it as a kid, but with it being so overrun with homeless people, I don't even feel very safe walking through it anymore. My mom stopped taking her kids there a year or so ago, because the police were finding a lot of used needles on the playground. If you would rather not have your kids trip over a used needle, I would suggest skipping City Park. The police have only started kicking out the homeless, and last I was at the library (close by), it was still quite overrun. It's really quite sad, a great park rendered unusable by a bunch...
