Words can not even begin to describe the GOLDEN TALENT of Gustavo Briand!! His hands are truly magical when it comes to hair. Yesterday was my birthday and I was feeling kinda “old” as I stared in the mirror at the gray roots growing out of my scalp. Having only moved to Miami Beach a month ago, I don’t know a single person here— not to mention, I clearly didn’t know of any particular hair salons either. Being a Cali girl (and BLONDE), I have been going to same hair stylist for the past 15 years in L.A., so we ALL know that feeling of frustration/concern when it comes to moving and having to find a new stylist. After hours of reading reviews about at least 10 different salons here in Miami, I decided to give Gustavo a call on a whim at 5pm. Having read his business hours stating that the salon closes at 7pm, I certainly had no expectations since I wanted the “impossible” to happen just because it was my birthday, and I needed a little pick me up! He clearly explained to me on the phone that he had a customer coming in at 6pm and he truly did not have the time to do a full highlights being that he closes at 7pm. He did offer me to come in for a consultation at least so he could take a look at my hair since we have never ever met before. Well, I decided to push my luck in hopes of him changing his mind about not having the time to do my hair at such a late/last minute notice. Fast forward……I arrived at approx. 6pm as I actually walked in the door only 2 minutes before his 6pm client. Let me just say this: I have very long, thick, and frizzy hair— it’s a nightmare to deal with!!! I begged and pleaded with him telling him that it was my Bday & I was desperate to get rid of my gray roots IMMEDIATELY!!!! He Kindly agreed to at least do a root color for me in order to cover up the grays……. And suggested I could come back on a different day to do the full head of highlights. Fast forward to approx. 11pm last night, I was just leaving his salon with the MOST BEAUTIFUL BLONDE HAIR EVER! EVEN BETTER THAN MY FANTASTIC HAIR STYLIST OF 15 YEARS IN CA!!! I got my roots, my full highlights, deep conditioning, etc. etc. and THANKS TO GUSTAVO BRIAND, I HAD THE MOST FANTASTIC BIRTHDAY EVER!!! TO TOP IT ALL OFF, HIS CUTE LITTLE MAMA (who also works alongside him in the salon) even ran out to Publix to buy me a birthday cake with candles and all…….. IT IS NO WONDER THAT THIS SALON IS THE LONGEST LASTING SALON IN THE ENTIRE MIAMI BEACH AREA!!!! I also want to mention one last thing: As I was sitting under his “modern, art deco” dryer letting my root color process, I was watching him attend to his 6pm client who happened to be a man. Let me just say this: Being the perfectionist that I am, I have never ever in my entire life seen any hair stylist, not only spend an entire hour cutting a man’s “short” hair, but his techniques with the scissors and his close attention to every little detail/piece of hair on the man’s scalp was mesmerizing. THANKS AGAIN...

Gustavo Briand’s women’s haircuts have become increasingly poor quality. Historically he is cut my hair into long layers and I would only visit him for my hair cut and keratin treatments.

In June 2023 I asked him for a trim specifically no more than 1/2” cut. He cut several inches off my length and didn’t layer the hair sufficiently. Please see the attached photos. The black jacket photo was the before where the front of my hair was several inches below my chin. The after photo shows the hair shorter than my chin without blending. My hair was a hideous mess that required another cut from a different stylist. I will never be his customer again.

Gustavo behaved incredibly rudely during my last salon visit. I scheduled an appointment through Booksy and paid the deposit. When I arrived for the confirmed appointment, another woman was in the middle of a cut and keratin service. I waited for him. Then very late into the evening he starts my cut.

Gustavo called offering to “fix” the cut and a keratin treatment for free. His gesture was kind, but his dramatic cut of several inches of hair broke the relationship. Another stylist candidly indicated that Gustavo may have used a thinning shear on my hair or a dull scissor. My hair had many unusual cut lines some going at angle from the back to the front. Fact: when every business was shutting down during the pandemic, this salon remained open. It has survived (rather: thrived) for 17+ years with Gustavo Briand at the helm. He's a friend of mine, a fellow YouTuber, and he cuts and colors my mom's hair. He's a super fun personality, and a really great hair stylist. The location is very chic, and... he has refreshments for you! What more can you ask for?

He also let me use his hair dryer to dry my soaking wet pants after a rain storm. I told him I would write on google that Gustavo Brian Studio does an amazing job drying people's legs. He didn't like that idea. But I reallly wanted to post that. So I figured it would be a reasonable compromise to share the context under which he helped dry my legs. That being said, if you DO have wet pant legs, definitely keep Gustavo's studio saved as a pin on your map. I'm definitely going back again if ever my pant legs are wet!
