Stopped here May 10, 2024. Thought I had found the perfect vegan place by searching online and reviews, until I was in the middle of ordering my food.
I look back into the kitchen and see a young girl worker who is making the food, standing there with gloves on holding her cell phone and typing away on it. She was in the middle of making somebody's sandwich.
I blurted out , "geez - she's holding her phone with her gloves on" while I was standing there ordering. Because it was gross.
The guy taking the order turned around and quickly said something to her, and she brushed him off.
I should have left at that moment, but it was hot out and we walked all the way there for that specific food and I had a 4 year old with me. So I just continued with the order.
The kitchen staff obviously took offense to my comment, as they one-by-one had to come out and see the guy who was disgusted by the girl who was holding her cell phone with the hands she makes the food with. They all gave me a look and I was a bit scared that they did something to my food, but we paid for it, and I was hoping they wouldn't go that low - as she was the one that did something wrong, not me.
Why can't people understand that a cell phone is one of the dirtiest things you will touch! You bring it to the bathroom with you. You set it down on things. You cough on it. People rarely clean it. DON'T HOLD A CELL PHONE AND THEN MAKE PEOPLE'S FOOD. It's DISGUSTING!
We were going on a cruise the next day. We were trying to be healthy! That's why we were eating there. I feel like a "Ken" making a big deal of this, but it should be common sense. You put gloves on because you're trying to be CLEAN. If you touch your face, nose, something not FOOD, especially a cell phone, you change your gloves. That's common food industry knowledge.
I don't care if you want to grab your cell quick and respond to a message, just take the gloves off and then when you're done grab new ones. This is the second place I've been to since January that I see people in the kitchen doing this. I would advise the manager/owner to explain the importance of food handling or maybe I need to inform the food safety/health people to stop by for a visit under cover to see for themselves.
I won't be back. If you go because of the positive reviews, either don't look - or don't care what they are...
Read moreI would stay far, far away from this place. Not only did they not have or claimed they cldnt make what I wanted, AND the lady in the gold shirt with her hair in a Pony tail (in the pictures I have attached) assaulted me. I will go into detail. A friend and I ran into this place as we were jogging. We went in, and he ordered a smoothie with multiple additions. I asked them to make me a ginger shot with tumeric. The girl at the cashier told me, "No, we don't do that." I asked her 2 more times because I've never had a smoothie shop tell me they can't make me the most popular shot, but ok. Both my friend and I went and sat down to wait for his order. The girl in the gold shirt with her hair in the ponytail came from around the counter, hand my friend his smoothie. She proceeded to bend down and ask me if I was the one who asked for the ginger shot. I replied, "Yes, but never mind, I'm good. She started to yell, telling me I was rude. At that point, I told her to move l so I could get up. She told me NO, I'm not moving. I asked her again, and she still didn't move, so at that point, i got up. She was so close to me that I bumped her. When I was just far enough that my back was to her, I felt her SMACK my back. I turned around and she very quickly walked back unto the kitchen. At that point, I was so upset, I loudly told her to come back out and demanded to know why she assaulted me. She didn't come back out. In the picture, u can see her walking into the kitchen and the cashier laughing!?!? I walked out and explained to my friend what happened because he walked out after getting his smoothie, thinking she was just making my ginger shot. I was still upset, I walked back I'm and up to the counter where I asked for a manager, I asked for her name and only thing I got was a short Spanish man telling me "no, we are not doing that." I stood there for about 3 mins repeating myself while she just stood behind him. So I left.l, and called the store asking for a manager again. The female on the phone told me there's no manager and I was acting like a child. I explained to her I should call the police because they could look at the cameras, and she laughed and hung up.
I have never in my life encountered anything like this ever! Stay far,...
Read moreWith an exotic yet comfortable decor, friendly waitstaff, original recipies and delicious whole food, Under the Mango Tree hits every macronutrient! Opting for the recommendations of the gentleman who took my order, I went with the Baked Falafel dish from the seasonal menu, the Coco Loco smoothie, and a spicy chai tea. I didn’t have to wait long at my outdoor table with the yellow umbrella before my smoothie arrived. The chocolate (raw cacoa) and banana flavors dominated the overall subtle taste of this silky smooth concoction. The chopped dates contributed the sweetness, and the house hemp milk a unique flare. Quickly following came the tea—a strong and spicy cinnamon sweetness that complimented the subtler flavor of the smoothie. Then the main course—four falafel medalions with a moist and savory interior surrounded by a satisfying baked crust. Made out of chickpeas, quinoa, garlic, onions, parsley, and sesame seeds, these piquant patties paired well with the pungent, lightly whipped, and prodigious bowl of house-made hummus that accompanied it. Initially I started dipping the falafel in the side of tahini sauce, but eventually just mixed the remaining tahini with the hummus for the ultimate falafel dipping experience. The pickled carrot and onion went well with the hummus, too. Heck, I think anything would go well with that hummus, sitting atop of which were several black olives featuring a flavor I’d never before experienced. With an extensive menu whose variety I had barely sampled, I would definitely return for additional meals under the mango tree! (Oh, I get it now—mango tree, the...
