Dayton Mall — Local services in Miami Township

It's very sad to see Amazon destroying the malls especially for those that like to shop clothing in person and return in person. There are still quite a lot of big store chains in here however you are starting to see stores pop up that are mom and pop like how the Salem Mall did before it went downhill. Now the Salem mall back then started having theft issues and safety issues which is ultimately why the big stores left not because of mom and pop stores. The front side of the mall is booming for the outside stores so I think they are trying to build it up. I have faith they will get the Dayton mall back since two of the anchor stores left or went out of business one was elder Beerman which went out of business and the other Sears which I believe is still around but they closed lots of locations. I do feel the Dayton Mall needs more security however. I did go one time and had a random young man following me close to the Chick-fil-A end where it's quite and I finally ditched him by going into a store instead of the exit. On the ends of the malls and in more quite areas where there are exits you need security there for safety reasons. The area not just Dayton Mall has been recently seeing robberies especially around the holidays be careful. It's a nice area but it's off the highway so people could be getting off highway to commit crime and then jump on the highway to flee quickly. The safety of your shoppers is just as important as the safety of merchandise in fact its more important so my advice for them is to hire more guards who patrol the mall inside near the more quite exits, safety of women with children and seniors will ensure that customers return. Ultimately 3 stars is due to lack of security at quite end exits. Also the hours close early now and are not extended for holiday. It's like some stores are still operating on covid store hours. Most places have went back to pre covid hours. I was shocked to see the mall closing at 8pm on Friday and Saturday around the holidays. My Experience After Being Away From All Malls For Nearly A Year... I was struck by 3 very real truths. People are incredibly selfish when it comes to covid-19 and concern of the spread to others (not within individual stores), individually owned stores are the new go too's in personalized customer service and large chain stores are nothing but merchandise warehouses. FYI - wearing your mask under your nose pretty much defeats the purpose people. Just sayin'. I had called Torrid (a plus size women's store ) looking for something other than "comfy sleep wear". Rebecca answered all of my questions and as honest as she could be let me know they did not have in stock at this time what I was looking for but, she was kind enough to steer me to a brand new store next to Torrid, called Her Curves Lingerie Boutique. Talking about hitting the nail on the head. So new, it did not list in google yet. As I walked in a woman came from behind the register desk to greet me. Even though masked up her eyes were smiling as she said Hello. As I complimented the store she disclosed that she was the owner, (I apologise, when I locate the proper way to spell her name, I will update this). She was amazing! I'd bet she showed me every outfit she had. It's a tie, between the amazing customer care and the great prices. Long story a little shorter 😉 I have found my new Go Too as a BBW for lingerie. I'm going back Monday for an outfit that looks both sexy and comfy. The cutest cream satin looking sleep pants with large black polka dots with a black camisole top. And, panties that say Yum! and The Circle Of Life... I'm lovin' this store! The other store was JCPENNEY. No employees to get me shoes to try on or let me know.. anything basically... I asked another customer if their was anyone working and their response was, "not to help those shopping, only to look for those shoplifting". Negative behavior...

The Dayton Mall has been around since I was a kid. Elder Beerman's and Sears do sit vacant still. They did a good job walling them off so there isn't such an empty spot.

There is a lot of cool stores that have moved in such as FYE, if you want Funko Pops that is the place to go. Treasure Trove Collectibles which it was my first time going there and it is really cool. They have kind of like Vendor tables or showcases ranging from cards, memorabilia, toys, beanie babies, albums, cookie jars, dvd's, cassettes, etc.

I also reached out to and they are super friendly T Shirt Designs of Dayton in the mall. They make custom screened T Shirts or Hoodies and also accept designs made personally from you. I am waiting on my personal design to put on a T Shirt as I worked hard on the concept and see it on clothing is going to be cool.

One of my favorites spots in the mall to eat is Sakura their Chicken Teriyaki is delicious. It is nice to as it isn't as busy as it used to be walking around and not bumping into anyone.

I hope the Dayton Mall stays around and with the vendors and stores there that they remain in business. I would love to see it turn into a Greene or get a make over similar to it so Dayton has something close to us, see more stores and perhaps a comic book store or two or three lol.
