When we first moved into Gio, we were truly impressed and I gave them 5 stars. However, within two months, we encountered significant issues with the elevators and security that potential renters should be aware of before committing.
Firstly, the building has an insufficient number of elevators for the volume of residents, often resulting in prolonged delays. This issue is further exacerbated by regular elevator breakdowns, with malfunctions so frequent that residents can expect 15 to 20-minute delays routinely. These aren't just minor inconveniences--they can critically disrupt your day, whether it's missing important meetings, catching a flight, an Uber that won't wait, or urgently needing to take your dog outside--a common concern given the high number of pet owners in the building.
Secondly, being stuck in an elevator is not a rare event here, and when it happens, the wait for a fire department rescue can extend up to an hour. During such times, the building management offers no compensation or relief for the significant inconvenience and anxiety caused.
Thirdly, although a key is required to access the elevator lobby, the front desk is often unattended as the staff member may be busy with other tasks. This results in delivery people, visitors and others following residents into the elevator lobby and gaining free access to the building, leading to security lapses. This oversight is observable daily and poses a substantial safety risk.
Despite the pleasant aspects of living at Gio, these significant drawbacks mar the overall experience. We have raised these issues with the building management, but nothing has been done to date. I believe in complete transparency for anyone considering this building. Potential renters deserve to be fully informed of these issues, which urgently need attention from the building management. If you are considering renting here, ensure that your lease includes terms allowing you to leave without penalty if these issues are not resolved.
There are many amazing things about Gio that we really like but, unfortunately, these have recently been overshadowed by the above issues. I hope that one day, after these important concerns have been adequately addressed, I can revise my rating...
Read moreFactual reasons why you should never live here from renter who was here from the opening of the building to end of 2024: You share a parking entrance with Trader Joe’s which is literally unacceptable for a living space at any price. Do you get frustrated navigating a grocery store parking lot? This will be your every-day experience living here. I actually wrote this review while essentially parked on the ramp in between the Trader Joe’s parking the resident parking. Elevators always broken. 95% of the time you will wait for literally 5-10 minutes for an elevator which will be packed since the others are down. This is a known issue since at least 2022 and I guess they just don’t want to spend the money to fix it. The gate to get in the parking lot is often broken and the other two gate sensors are very sensitive and often don’t work on the first or second try. Due to the above reasons, honestly you need to give yourself about 20 minutes of leeway between leaving your apartment and exiting the building, especially in rush hours/weekends. Air BnB people are so numerous, disrespectful and rude there’s now cameras everywhere on every floor. Most people live here seemingly for a year or less then leave; no respect - there’s dog urine and poop in the elevators and the concrete around the front door because no one cares about the space. I see the cleaning people out and cleaning constantly so it’s not for lack of trying. Fixtures and appliances are cheap; they seem to be a step above ikea.
The Good (only because I’m sure management will see this): The front desk and maintenance people are absolutely exceptional, great attitude and kind - it’s an absolute shame this building has turned into a disaster.
The main administrative office is a toss up, anyone with actual power to help you isn’t helpful and everyone who is nice has no actual power and I guess exists only as a go-between to put a kind face somewhere. The one time I needed actual genuine help the manager used that time to sell me on a “partnership” with a nearby business instead of actually helping me. Then, instead of having the decency to apologize themselves (even via e-mail would have been fine) they had an assistant do it....

You will wait, no joke, 10-15 minutes for elevators almost every day. This is not an exaggeration, unfortunately.
If you drive, do NOT rent in this building. If you don't have a car... not so much of an issue.
Good luck if you want to leave the garage during working hours of Trader Joes - you share the garage, and there is guaranteed to be someone that forgot to validate their parking ticket, that you then have to wait on.
Buzzoto management is disgusting. They will charge you more than your neighbors (same floor, same views) and when you bring it up they'll give you some absurd answer iike "market rate" - yea, no.
Then when you raise the issues above (can't get out of the garage, constant elevator wait) - they will use their corporate attorneys to send you a 'cease and desist letter' that you're being disruptive --- for daily emailing them about the problems the building has...daily.
They will also share YOUR CONTACT information AS WELL AS your wherabout and move in/move out dates with THIRD PARTIES, so said third parties, that are partnered with Bozzuto/Gio (such as cleaning companies) will know exactly when and where you are in the process of moving. That's right - companies that they will let in and out of the property with no question of access, also hav access to YOUR unit and know when YOU are moving and have easy access to YOUR property without your knowledge. A gross breach of privacy. (plus, this sharing of contact information violates national text communication laws - they try to get around this with a catch-all phrase in their ridiculously long renter's contract which you have no choice but to sign if you need a roof over your head).
And your security deposit? They will wait until the very last legal day to give it back to you.
They are operating from a position of power and taking pure advantage...
