Orangetheory Fitness — Local services in Miami

Writing this review only 1 month in lol but I couldn’t help but share how I feel about this OTF!! I always knew I wanted to try out OTF, but for some reason I never got to it. After becoming a ClassPass member, I just wasn’t seeing the results I wanted and it was quite expensive for the credits you get. It was also lacking the “community feel” unless you wanted to spend your credits all in one place but that defeats the whole purpose of ClassPass. Anyways, I’ve been living here for 2 years, I moved here from Michigan, which if you know or been, it’s the complete opposite of Miami, not only in terms of weather. One thing I miss about Michigan are the people, the people are so friendly especially the customer service, they care deeply and I definitely took it for granted, however ever since I started going to OTF, the community was the first time I felt it was similar to home! This is the first place in Miami that truly blew me away with how friendly the staff was! The coaches and front desk staff are super friendly! Ashley helped me since my very first class, she’s been so friendly and encouraging! She pushes me to go above and beyond I ever thought I would do. She is always correcting my form and adjusting me if I need to and is so kind to everyone. Rachel, is also a great coach! She brings in the energy! She’s so kind and uplifting! They both always correct me on my form or help me when I am confused and as a newbie it’s quite often lol. Ro at the front desk is also very kind. He’s a great energy and always treating everyone with kindness. They some how always remember your name when you walk through the door, that’s got to say something! I started off at 8 classes a month, now I am on the unlimited plan because I just couldn’t get enough lol. I look forward to everyday and feel so good afterwards and during. Something about pushing yourself in this environment is extremely rewarding. I feel the best I’ve ever felt physically and mentally! I definitely am loving this studio and don’t know how I ever did life before it. Only thing is, I wish they had a 6am class so it would give me enough time to workout before work. The 5am class in nice but a tad too early for me. The night classes are fun though, the groups are split into 2 are nice because doing weight and rowing before running is my preference! Definitely an amazing studio. People talk to you here, it’s warm and friendly even if you are new. Have an open mind, say hi to people, and pretty much you will do great! I definitely recommend this location too. Clean and friendly!

Update- I’m now 41 classes in. I love it here, the people are SO friendly, the coaches are great. They actually correct your form and do everything in their power to make sure you get it down. Since being here Steven has started and he is a great coach! He has great energy and music as well. Literally ALL the coaches and staff are everything!! I would like to first state that I am normally against leaving bad reviews. I like to support and give positivity to all things, especially local establishments. Truly, It takes a lot for me to say anything negative about a place. But, this place has pushed me to that point.

*Please note that I believe Orange theory is a wonderful workout and I recommend it, just NOT HERE. *

The staff at this venue is horrible! Do NOT go to this location! Go the the South Beach location. The downtown staff is beyond rude, and unhelpful.

I was already a member at the SOBE location and a young lady rep from this location gave me an attitude telling me that I couldn't attend a class without signing up there. She made me believe that I had to sign up as a member at this one in order to attend a class. I found out later that THIS IS NOT TRUE. They just wanted to change my membership location to their location. I made it clear that I wanted to stay at my location; SOBE. I was promised it wouldn't be an issue and I could remain at SOBE. The only hold was that my already existing membership at the SOBE location just needed renewing and she told me I could "renew" at their location without changing my home from SOBE.

The next day I attended my SOBE location and was informed the downtown office changed my "home" to theirs. They then started charging me for a membership there. I went in person to the downtown office and informed them I did not agree to switching my membership to their location and wanted it cancelled. The young women who made the switch insisted that I did and refused to cancel it. I had to get my SOBE office to reach out to them and have it corrected. Or so I thought...

It was corrected for about two months and recently, out of nowhere, this location is AGAIN trying to force me to pay a membership and stating I never cancelled it. I have gone by two times and written an email stating I do not approve the charges. Each time I went by in person I was told by the same extremely rude and overly defensive lady that "only the manager can handle my situation and he isn't here now". When I ask when I can see him, I was told with a tone of annoyance, "he comes and goes, just come back and try again or call in next time". When I emailed I was told they have no record of cancellation and to come by to correct it.

It's a unnecessary circle of stupidity and down right atrocious customer service. Why should I have to go back and forth, chasing them around to resolve something that I stated I did not agree to within 48 hours of the initial situation taking place?! It's disgusting and not how any establishment should treat their customers.

So please heed my warning. Don't get mixed up with this place and if you do choose to, just make sure they overly explain exactly what they are...

Please read the negative reviews and DON'T make my mistake of going to Orangetheory downtown!!! First of all the area is dangerous and VERY dirty! Parking is terrible if not impossible and VERY expensive! Orangetheory downtown instructors are nice the first trial day when they are eager to sign you up and then they are rude and impatient and basically ignore you. Orangetheory downtown has a very aggressive and dishonest sales strategy which you should be aware of. I work in Brickell so I wanted to go to the Orangetheory in Brickell not Orangetheory downtown but they hadn't opened yet. The people at Orangetheory downtown convinced me to sign up for Orangetheory downtown assuring me that in a couple of months when Orangetheory BrickelI opened I would be able to easily transfer at no additional cost. One of them even went as far as to say that they, Orangetheory downtown, were much better than the Orangetheory Brickell which now I see is completely false. I called several times trying to transfer and they had me back and forth calling the Orangetheory Brickell (because they obviously don't want you to transfer, they don't care if it's the "same" company). Additionally, when they wanted me to sign up at Orangetheory downtown they explained that you can go to any Orangetheory location at no additional cost and they assured me that I would also be able to go to the Orangetheory Brickell which is false because they didn't inform me that I would have to pay an additional fee to go to the Orangetheory Brickell. When I called to cancel at Orangetheory downtown (several times!!) they aggressively would try to sell me other packages so that I wouldn't cancel. I called to cancel in May (which they have on record) and have been charging me every month since! I called when I realized this and Tiffany the manager told me that they do have the calls on record but she couldn't help me or give me a refund for all those months which they had been charging me because they didn't have a signed form. I explained that no one had sent me the form or explained this to me during those calls and she replied that since the guy that took my calls (George) wasn't working there anymore that that there is nothing she could do.
