I came on 2/27/2023, and the service was not satisfactory. My friend and I ordered meals and mimosas, coffee, and she had a side of potatoes that came with her meal and I paid for a side of bacon to go with mine.
There is a printed sign asking for patience as the food is cooked to order, and we tried to be patient even though the food took about 45 mins to come out and we were quite hungry.
First, I asked for two iced coffees and they came with no cream or sugar in them. No problem, I asked if I could have some creamer for the coffees when they were brought to our table. The waitress said yes and left. After 15 mins I went inside (we were sitting outside) and as soon as she saw me she went “oh, we don’t have cream”. I would have appreciated if she came back to the table to tell us that instead of waiting for me to come inside to inquire, or if I’d known that when I was ordering the coffee in the first place.
After waiting and waiting, our food came. Our side dishes didn’t come, so we asked about them. Once again the waitress said “ok”, and left. We tried to wait for the rest of our food to come before we started eating, but we were hungry and eventually started eating.
My friend finished all of our food and I was mostly done with mine and we still didn’t have the rest of our order. This time she went inside to ask about the rest of our food. She came back a few minutes later and asked if I had our receipt because the gentleman at the register was questioning who she was with and insisting she must have gotten all of her food. The waitress that we told we were missing food was present and did not speak up and say “I remember her, yes she is waiting for some food “. They took our receipt from my friend and she came back outside.
After another 20ish mins, I went inside. We’d finished the food we had before, two mimosas, and our coffees. When I asked about our missing food again, I saw it was not even being prepared for us. Our receipt was tossed to the side. The gentleman at the register gave me two free mimosas, we sat and drank them and by the time we were finished, we STILL didn’t have our food. We told the table next to us if they finally brought our food, they could have it. We’d been waiting around an hour. We did not get what we ordered/paid for and we were too frustrated and ready to leave to ask for a refund.
We are tourists, so there is not an opportunity to come back and try Cafe Papillion again but even if we could, we wouldn’t want to. The food we DID receive was not cooked correctly but we were too hungry to send it back.
Zero stars is not possible, so this restaurant gets one...
Read moreWe spent 4 days in Miami. From the new trendy area of Wynwood to South Beach to downtown Miami. We tried a new place to eat for almost every meal, every day. This place became our favorite almost instantly. Not because of anything fancy or trendy, but because of the amazing staff and amazing food (#17 of 100 restaurants in Miami on trip advisor) and a price unmatched in downtown Miami.
Best Cuban Colada I've ever had! You'd think it would be a simple thing to make, but it wasn't until I had one here I realized how awful it was everywhere else.
We ended up having breakfast here 3 of our 4 days because of how good the food and coffee are. Again, the food you get for the price is unmatched anywhere else in the area and quite honestly, we found the taste and quality of the food to be better than other places we visited, such as Bakan over in Wynwood, which is supposed to be a higher end dinning experience (the food was mediocre at best, hidden behind an array of sauces and creams).
Before our flight out, we stopped here for the Italian toppa, which includes four glasses of wine and a board of cheese meat bread pesto and fruit and olive, all for only $35! The hotel next door charges $10 per glass of wine alone, and that was just a cheap house red.
Finally, the staff here is amazing, friendly, and attentive, despite how many people are constantly coming in and out, ordering, and picking up takeout. The inside holds about 15, and another 15 outside. Yet they keep track of everyone, get food and drinks out quickly, and make sure you have everything you need. We didn't find this kind of service anywhere else while we were here.
I highly recommend checking this place out for breakfast or lunch. Keep in mind they close around 3:00 or 4:00 depending on the day.
A special shout out to (I hope I get this name right, I apologize if it's wrong) Alejandro, who helped us on multiple occasions, making this a wonderful...
Read moreI walk in and one guy is cleaning machines and the other is counting money and we had to verbally tell them we would like to order something. Basically ignored us. I told him I wanted an omelette with cheese spinach onion and sausage and he says he can’t do that. He said I can’t make my own omelette and can only order the options and then says he can make me a ham and cheese omelette. I came here several times before and you can see the pictures where I had my own omelette. Giving me racist vibes now.
In response to manager reply:
To address the racist vibes: I came here multiple times before and witnessed the same LATINO male greet people who are also LATINO with a smile and very welcoming. When me and my girl walked in he said hi while cleaning the machines and continued cleaning the machines. Didn’t even stop what he was doing to walk up to the register to properly greet us or try to make any convo. There was another man there who was also LATINO, at the cash drawer counting money and speaking in Spanish to a female employee the whole time and didn’t even bother once to look up at us to greet us. We literally had to tell the man who was washing the machines that we are ready to order and he walked up with a look on his face like he was ready to leave and didn’t want to serve us. I guess I should’ve been more specific and explain that me and my gf are African Americans. It speaks volume how you didn’t address the lack of customer service but instead want to act like it was impossible for your LATINO employee to give off racist vibes and have the audacity to say he is also colored. Delusional! Trust me you won’t have to worry about us or anyone else i know to visit your establishment anymore since you CANT add/remove items out of omelette when you are known to be a brunch place. Maybe you should take a business class and learn how to manage/operate your business to...
