I was Wynwood for the new Smorgasburg food market and in need of a birthday present when I spotted the Wynwood Kollective across the street. If Etsy is your jam you might like this store. The Kollective sells goods handmade by different local artists.
According to their website "Since co-pioneering the internationally renowned art district called Wynwood in Miami, Florida in 2003, artist and community leader Joshua Tiktin has been helping his fellow creators and entrepreneurs expand their reach and elevate their careers. His co-op style galleries and boutiques have housed over 150 artists, fashion designers, crafters, and retailers in numerous locations since 2003" One of those locations includes the Sistrunk Marketplace in Ft. Lauderdale and I have previously visited the Kollective located there.
The store is kind of small and cramped but there are three aisles of merchandise which include jewelry, accessories, toys, clothes, bath products, and art. Some of the items were very creative. I especially liked the necklaces made from beach plastic, a druzy ring, funky sunglasses, and the tiny dinosaur succulent planters. Read moreJust got conned from what was supposed to be " local designs" but items were all bought from China and resold in this shop for 12 - 13 times more! Don't buy from the brand @datsillmiami . All her bags were bought from China for only $3 - $5 and resold in this shop for $60 - $65. I was so excited when I initially saw the designs and thought that they were local Miami designer's stuff. Spent $415 buying 7 bags in total. Went back to my hotel and did a search online as i had just gotten back from China. Found out that this is all a scam and the designs were not local. All the bags can be found online for just $3 - $5 each (see attached proof). I went back the next day to return the bags. The so called "artist" refused and just replied via text with a firm "absolutely no refund, no returns". Well course not! Since all her goods are fake and she didn't design any of it. I feel conned buying from this shop. The owner should have checked the background of these so called "local designers" before accepting their goods for sale. I do need to qualify that most of the other brands in the shop are...
