Specialty Market — Local services in Midvale

I was coming to this store for a few years, probably 5 times a year since I live a little far. I had a good experience shopping from here until recently. On May 25 I grabbed a package of beef deli without paying attention to its package. When I got home, I noticed the package had some mold at both ends where it was sealed. I kept it in the fridge for a week or so to see what happens. Unfortunately, a lot of mold grew inside and became very disgusting. I’m glad that the mold was visible on the package at the first place and I did not ended up having it. Otherwise I would have been in a hospital.

Its price was not such that to bother myself driving 40 miles to go back to the store and get refunded right away. So, I decided to take a few pictures and show them to the owner the next time I go there, which happened yesterday (17th August). When I talked to the cashier, he did not care and said that it’s been a long time and he won’t refund me. I was just expecting them to apologize and say they are sorry for what happened to me, and probably thank me for warning then about their product. But, it did not happen even once. When the owner came in 15 minutes later, he was even more rude and kept saying” it’s been a long time, why you did not call”. Are you kidding me!!!! Is that what you care about? He could not be more irresponsible than that I felt like he would beat me if I continue arguing. When they offered to give me another package of the deli, I did not accept because that was not the point, I just wanted to see they care about their customers’ health. But, …. When I shared this with my friends, they had similar issues with their bread from the fridge and cheese. I posted those pictures, please...

I've been going to this market for months and I love it. I recently moved close by and I stop by at least twice a week. I recently bought a small 4 ounce box of pine nuts for $11 and brought it home. When I opened the box and tried it, the pine nuts were bitter because of how rancid they were. I returned to the market immediately and tried to return the item at the cashier. She tells me that she is not allowed to return items for customers, took the box from my hand and ran to the owner who was sitting in the bakery at the back of the store. She comes back and said that the owner said that there were absolutely nothing wrong with this product. I said that's ok I don't need my money back, just give this box to the owner as a gift from me. I left and will never return. I find it appaling that the owners of these middle eastern shops are so stupid as to let a client who comes to their shop at least twice a week, spends no less that $30 everytime go so easy. I am now buying all my nuts off amazon, they are fresh and are sold in bulk for very reasonable prices and if something is bad and has to be returned, they would would not...

This store carries a lot of good stuff that you don't regularly find in a regular grocery stores. They have a section for fresh produce, meat section, various kinds of spices, wide selection of coffee and tea, bottled food preserves, cookies, chocolates/candies, rice, snacks and nuts, and they even have a bakery section. They also have coffee/tea sets, cooking wares, serving wares and utensils. The place is well organized and the staff are very friendly. Even though the store says international market, I think they carry mostly middle eastern goods which is nice. I was just expecting more including european and asian goods as well that's why I left 1 star out but overall this shop is nice and...
