NOT TO BE MISSED! Must go here for sushi!!! Seriously the best tasting sushi. You will not be disappointed. I will be back.
The sushi at Keyaki reminds me of the delicious amazing sushi I ate at a very, very high end resort in Cancun, Mexico (Indochine @ the Nizuc Spa & Resort- there's a Yelp review somewhere for that).
I learned the owners who prepare the sushi are Latin, makes complete sense why it reminded me of my experience eating the best sushi in Cancun!! They have so many flavors, the sushi tasted amazing. Being Latin myself I am def a lime and cilantro preference when it comes to sushi, pairs so well together with clean fresh fish. Also like how the restaurant has some elements of Latin culture like ordering Coke or Jarritos in a glass bottle and the great Latin music playing in the background. I don't like Takis or Hot Cheetos but now I'm open to try their Hot Cheeto roll! I can’t wait to try their vegan rolls with Latin elements (mangos y platano)
The first impression I had was their ginger, it tasted so fresh! Hot and spicy which is a great sign that the sushi we were about to eat was good.
Every single roll we ordered was awesome. I've eaten in at least 12 sushi restaurants in the Salt Lake area alone and more outside Utah and counting. Keyaki is the best, best place for great sushi, my previous sushi experiences now pale with this experience eating at Keyaki. Usually at other sushi restaurants we order about 2-3 rolls, and only liking about 1-2 of the rolls. We ordered FIVE rolls and LOVED THEM ALL. I would have ordered more but we were So full so the only solution is to go back and try out the rest of their menu!
ORDER #1 Playboy Sunset Sendsation
The playboy and sendsation are very similar in main ingredients and presentation but I was very happy eating both. Also love the sunset roll.
ORDER #2 Fuji Sex on the Beach So good! Must try.
SERVICE The service was excellent. Just the two owners and one other person taking our order. It didn't take a long time to bring out our order, these people know what they're doing.
LOCATION It's a very tiny restaurant with minimal parking, doesn't look like a restaurant from the outside but inside it does. It is beautiful and clean. If you know how to get to the San Diablo churro Murray location, you will find Keyaki. We went here for sushi, then stopped at San Diablo around the corner for churros for dessert.
We went here on Friday. I am ready to go into work Monday morning about where to go for amazing, amazing sushi. If you are at a job where you need to impress clients go order sushi from these guys. Hopefully my office manager will order our sushi from there next time we have a...
Read moreIncredible sushi spot with unique rolls!
Keyaki is a take and go sushi spot (limited dine in now available) with so many creative, fun rolls! They have the best vegan selection hands down, their vegan rolls are full of different veggies and plenty of toppings, just how vegan rolls should be! A vegan spicy mayo is even used. While I was pregnant I tried veggie rolls at many sushi places and they were always disappointing. Now that I can eat raw fish again, I still would get the vegan ones here because they are that good!
Besides vegan rolls, regular seafood rolls are available too. They prepare their vegan separate from the raw fish to prevent cross contamination. If you don't like seafood, they also have a delicious chicken roll topped with curry sauce called the Tanuki, it is one of my favorites! The hot cheeto roll, mango roll, vegan monkey, and vegan Tiger roll are also some of my faves! I love how unique they get, the Tropical roll is topped with plantains for example. The sushi nachos are new and definitely my top fave so far!
Presentation is on point, especially for a takeout spot! They use boxes and the rolls are just gorgeous and as delicious as they appear.
Parking is super tight here, by the way.
Definitely recommend, whether you are vegan or...
Read moreWow! What a hidden gem! Keyaki has a HUGE variety of sushi, with many amazing, creative types that we've never seen before. They also have a large vegan menu which we can honestly say is the best vegan sushi we've ever had. (If you're a big sushi fan and you have friends/family who don't like sushi because of the fish factor, have them try some of the vegan options.) The portions are generous and artistically served. The beverages are unique and refreshing.
When we sat down, we were pleasantly surprised to learn that every Monday is "Vegan" Monday, when a free Tiger roll is offered if 2 vegan rolls are ordered. Yum!!! We chose the Monkey and the Yummy. They were fantastic! Our dining partner ordered the Poke Bowl (regular, not vegan) and it was excellent.
Don't be put off by the location; it's on a frontage road in a former warehouse, so it doesn't look like a restaurant on the outside.
If you are looking for something unique and off the beaten path in Salt Lake, this place is definitely worth a visit.
P.S. The server told us that Keyaki may be moving to a new, nearby location in...
