Found this place via google, it showed dine in was an option so it was a winner- delivery tends to skew opinions. We ordered Lo Mein, Lemon Chicken, Walnut Shrip, and Ham Fried rice. I am allergic to mushrooms and forgot to mention that when ordering and that is my fault, the vegetable Lo Mein has mushrooms(i guess fungus is a vegetable haha!) Anyways, the noodles did have a lack luster flavor but still good enough to finish. The Lemon Chicken however was amazing! The chicken was crisp and tastey by itself, but the lemon sauce was really really good. The sauce was not a jelly but like the consistency of (panda express) sweet and sour, easy to control flow and measurement and goes great over the rice. And the lemon flavor was not a tart over powering flavor but still very lemony for being as subtle as it was. Walnut shrimp could not have been tastier either! The shrimp were not tiny little things, but some decent big guys. The flavoring/sauce was pretty thick and not runny and that was fine considering the walnuts came out dry but sprinkled on top almost as a topping. Dry walnuts normally bug me but with the flavor and consistancy of the sauce over the shrip it was all very eatable and enjoyable. As for the Ham fried rice, we are not sure yet, it was missed while we were dining but was made available as a "to go" dish. He did offer to serve it when we noticed it on the bill but forgot while dining, but after the noodles, chicken, shrimp, and white rice we were pleasently filled. Overall for the resteraunt, appearance was par and service was prompt once seated and our drinks were not often left empty. We...
Read moreOur usual Chinese restaurant was closed unexpectedly tonight so we decided to go to Rice King for takeout. I had never been here, but my family had dined here.
We ordered online, which was easy and convenient. We arrived to find a full restaurant and a line of people to pickup takeout. I thought this was a great choice considering the volume of people.
Once home and the bag was unpacked I knew already this was not like our usual place. The entree portions were much smaller.
The potstickers were pretty good. Flavorful enough.
The egg rolls were more like a spring roll. Maybe I’m biased being from the East coast where an egg roll is an egg roll. These tasted just like the ones you buy frozen at Sam’s or Costco. Minimal filling and little flavor.
I ordered the General Tso’s, a dish I judge every Chinese restaurant by because it’s my favorite. This was terrible. Aside from being a skimpy portion, it had no flavor aside from a sugar sauce. No spice to it at all. It was a brown sugar sauce and no broccoli. I was highly disappointed.
The lemon chicken was good. The lemon sauce was a bit runny though. The cashew chicken was probably the best dish.
The ham fried rice was decent. No veggies and a little bit of ham.
The pork lo mein was the best dish. Large pieces of pork. The noodles were a little overdone, but not terrible.
The person that checked me out was friendly. He was clearly rushing all around with that many people there.
I doubt I’d go back to...
Read moreNot only was the restaurant HOT, because no AC or airflow was going (it’s 90° outside), it’s disgustingly dirty. There were splatters of something on the walls, random boxes and stuff everywhere. Didn’t feel like it had been cleaned in a very long time! There was also no music or white noise or anything and felt like we shouldn’t talk. Very strange atmosphere.
The service was terrible as well. There were only two people in the restaurant when we got there, it took them maybe 5mins to come from the back to seat us (does nodding his head towards a table, count as “seating” us?).
After getting our food, which actually wasn’t bad (chicken chow mein and general tsao chicken), we heard some nasty coughing coming from the kitchen, which completely grossed us out. The guy who seated us, never came to check on us, and we sat for probably 15-20mins when we were done, waiting to get our check to leave. I grabbed a to-go box myself from one of the other tables while waiting (like I said, random stuff everywhere).
I do not recommend this place. If you have it delivered or get it to go and can bypass the restaurant itself, the food wasn’t terrible (just remember the cougher in the kitchen who’s making your food) and the prices were...
