Hammered Cow — Restaurant in Mobile

My husband, daughter, and I were traveling through Mobile to New Orleans when I decided to Google a good burger place. Based on the reviews, we were all excited to try it.

Listen, there is truth in the name!! The burgers were definitely HAMMERED!! This was my first, and preferably last, experience with a crunchy burger. I couldn’t even taste the meat because it was practically non-existent. The food alone wasn’t enough to make me want to come back; however, the atmosphere was enjoyable. It was a warm day, and the windows were open which gave an outside vibe even though we were inside.

The tables and benches were nasty. They need to be wiped down regularly between guests. In the time we were there, we saw lots of people come and go but nobody came out to wipe the tables down.

It’s located inside of a food court style building with a chicken, pizza, and poke bowl restaurant. I would likely come back and try one of the other restaurants - maybe. If we were locals, I’d definitely come back. It’s kid-friendly and a nice little hangout spot. There were lots of families there. There’s also an arcade in the back.

The cashier was very kind and she did a great job explaining the menu and how to order. I also liked that our order was HAMMERED, I mean cooked, fresh - at least the burgers were. The fries were lukewarm, and they didn’t taste fresh.

Our order was prepared in a decent amount of time. I didn’t feel like we had to wait that long.

I've heard a lot of great things about the Hammered Cow, but unfortunately my experience was way less than great. The shift lead Matthew Miller was very rude to me for no reason. Matthew misheard/misunderstood that I wanted my veggie burger to be placed in a pan. When I looked at the screen and noticed that he mistakenly chose grill, I explained that I wanted it cooked in a pan. Matthew immediately became frustrated because his coworker had just placed the patty on the grill. He said a profanity very loudly, and proceeded to passive aggressively talk about me to her. He stated that SHE isn't the one he's actually upset with. I tried to speak to him and explain that this was a simple misunderstanding, but he rudely walked away from me as I was speaking to him. Found this little hidden gem by mistake. Just was googling and saw it and was like let me try. Honestly you would miss it if you didn’t know where to look. My boyfriend and I went on a Sunday, and they were not busy at all. There are about 5 little restaurants in the small building with a game room in the back. We ordered our food and didn’t have to wait long at all. The burgers are soooo good!! They are big and have great flavor. I was only able to eat about half the burger and took the rest home. My boyfriend ate half of his as well and stated it’s one of the best burgers he has had in a long time. My mom and brother split the half I took home and now are upset I didn’t bring them one back!
