I don't think I have ever had such horrible service at a retail store. If I could give 0 stars I would.
I'll start off by saying, I understand that it is prom season and I understand now is a busy time for this type of store and i also understand that things can get a little hectic.
Where to start....When we arrived there were 4 high school kids trying on their tuxedos for pick up. There were (what we thought) 3 employees helping with this process and another employee helping an older gentleman with a custom suit. We walked to the back of the store and it took at least 10 minutes for anyone to even acknowledge us. And by acknowledge I mean, asked if we were picking up for prom. Since that answer was a no we were ignored again for another 10+ minutes. Needless to say I decided to sit on a display to see if anyone would get the hint. Thankfully a young man who was helping with the prom guys asked if we were being helped. When he found out we were looking for a custom suit his shocked expression and urgency to find someone to help us should have been a flag there.
As we turned around, a miserable looking woman (who had actually walked past us multiple times and we actually thought she was a customer) was standing there and the young man asked if she could help us. With utter hesitation and a miserable look she "offered to help" and kind of just stood there when my fiancée said he needed a custom suit for business. She again didn't offer any help/advice and said there's things on the rack to look at; she didn't offer to measure him or anything. Looking for more guidance, we asked for a book or examples of suits they had to offer and she said "uhh we don't have a catalog, I don't know what you want." We again said he's looking for a custom suit, we're looking for some guidance on where to start or how to go about doing this.
She continued to look miserable and give attitude so needless to say we started walking out told her we would take our business else where. She all of a sudden begged us to come back, we said we waited for 20+ minutes without anyone acknowledging us and we would take our planned $800.00+ purchase else where.
Needless to say we went to Jos. A Banks just down the street. We were greeted by a pleasant, smiling gentleman waiting outside who opened the door for us and immediately helped my fiancée find 2...
Read moreGetting a tux at Men's Wearhouse is kind of like going to the DMV. Never enough people to help you, everyone who works there looks like they hate their life and their job, and you're treated like a number and not a person. It's truly a dreadful experience.
I ordered 13 tuxes for my wedding. Thirteen. All total, this costs my groomsmen and I, and my dad and my wife's dad about $2500 dollars. You would think you would be treated with some kind of semblance of respect, competence, or gratitude. But then again, if this were the case, you wouldn't receive the true Men's Wearhouse experience.. Every time I went in for a fitting or to make any kind of adjustment, I was greeted with miserable employees, slow service or long wait times, and total incompetence. Specifically, an employee who works only in the tux rentals. She might be the worst retail staff member I've ever encountered in my lifetime. Ever time she "helped" me, she treated me like she was doing me a huge favor. Somebody this unhappy with their job should never work with in a service oriented job that involves interaction with people, especially people who are getting ready for such an important occasion.
Here are some of the issues I had at MW:
-Price discrepancy. Had a coupon for $ off that was never applied. Was told 4 different prices for the same tux. -Inaccurate measurements. 3 days before my wedding and my tux was two sizes too large and missing items. I actually had to go to an independent bridal store to make sure I had a backup. I can't even tell you how stressful this was. I had so much to prepare for for my wedding, and didn't expect the tux rental to take up such a huge part of my time and cause me so much aggravation. In the weeks leading up to my wedding, I had to travel back and forth to MW 7 times. -Miserable employees. Not all of them. But most are unhelpful and downright rude. -Incomplete orders. Two of my groomsmen were missing bow ties and I had to make several trips to get this right.
If you're getting married and have groomsmen who are out of state, don't feel forced into MW. Go to a local, independent formal wear shop, and they will coordinate everything for you. They can have your guys measured for free in local shops in all 50 states. Trust me, it will make your life...
Read moreI should have written this a long time ago to spare some people from suffering. I decided to get my tuxedos for my wedding from Men's Wearhouse as it was right up the road from my house and there was a location near each of my groomsmen. When I went there were three sales associates helping other customers, which was fine. However, not a single person even bothered to notice me and greet me with a simple "we'll be with you shortly." After about 15 minutes of wandering around I went up to the cashier asking if I could have help with a tuxedo rental. Finally an employee tracked down a sales associates who could help me, but he complained about having to do it, and spent the next ten minutes complaining to me.
After waiting to have my information placed in the system, someone else took my measurements. He was not very friendly. The worst part was when he measured my neck. When he was finished, he yanked the tape measure away from my neck, and the metal piece at the end of it smacked me in the eye. No apology, no nothing.
Then I sat around for 15 minutes while waiting to have my measurements typed into the system. I was there for over an hour and I still hadn't gotten around to telling them what I wanted. After 15 minutes another employee came up to me, bewildered that I was still there. After speaking to him I finally left, and never came back.
