Degthai-Midtown — Local services in Nashville-Davidson

I've bought food from here before and enjoyed it, but tonight was just a mess. It took an extra hour from the estimated pickup time to get our food. With no human present at the front, the only option was to attempt to call the restaurant... alongside the other 10+ people waiting for their food. I've worked in the service industry, I understand what it's like when the night is going terribly and tickets are piling up. However, I was very disappointed by their communication over the phone. At 10 minutes past the pickup time, I got told they'd "call me back soon," with no actual information about my order. 10 minutes later my call went to voicemail. 10 minutes after that I got told "we're just finishing up your crispy tofu" and then was hung up on. I didn't order any crispy tofu. Another 10 minutes, sent to voicemail again. 10 minutes after that, I called to ask them to cancel and refund the order and got told "we're walking it up right now." Finally, another 10 minutes later, I actually received my food. Perhaps most galling of all, we didn't even receive what we ordered.

My frustration could have been avoided with just a little bit of honesty. Tell me your system is screwed or you're shortstaffed or whatever is actually happening. Tell that it's gonna take a while. Be real with me, tell me how much time you really think it's going to take. Lying and giving me false hope that it's just around the corner only serves to stoke frustrations, and this seemed to be a sentiment shared by the other customers stuck in purgatory.

We were really excited when we saw that Deg Thai was opening a location closer to us. While I was put off by the completely no-contact food pickup and the dozens of ghost kitchens with AI-generated logos the front kiosk claims operate out of the back, I was willing to put up with it for delicious Thai food closer to home. I won't be returning to this location after this. Save yourself the heartache and time and go patronize their original location in...

We've used this location before and never had issues, however, tonight it took us over an hour to get our food from when they said it would be ready. We kept calling every 5-10 min with someone saying our order is about to be ready or just going straight to voicemail. No explanation given. Maybe their system was down and they were backed up, but the way they handled it was unprofessional and the fact they constantly lied to us was just upsetting. I love Degthai but not using this...

I ordered pick-up through Uber Eats. You put your order number into a kiosk and a locker pops open with your food.

The red curry was a large portion and it was delicious! I prefer it medium, but it was still pretty mild. That being said, it also came with a little packet of chili powder and that stuff was not a joke. I will absolutely be ordering...
