Where do I begin first if I could give no stars I would. I’ve been having a lot problems here the last couple of months. I don’t know what’s going on here but I’ll not be going back the people in pharmacy and store manager Linda needs to be fired . I asked for a medicine over the counter for numbing cream I was on hold for 25 minutes waiting to ask because the one the doctor ordered wasn’t covered by insurance finally I get someone she looks it up I asked several times was this for the certain area that I needed she said yes and was rude wanting to get me off the phone I told her I’ve been on hold for 25 minutes you could give me a minute to listen she quoted a price of 10.00 so I go there find out it’s not for that area that I needed . but the one that needed was 23. So I asked the young man helping me if I can have it for the price that was quoted but was for NOT for the area I needed. he said we can ask the manager Linda she was rude and loud she kept interrupting me not listening we went back to the window of the pharmacy to talk PRIVATE I took both medication with me I started to explain with Linda interrupting me so the women with blonde hair she just got back from vacation she said. She looked up the medication that wasn’t covered so she knew what I needed for I didn’t get her name I explained she the pharmacist said well you are going to put it on the outside I was shocked I said it’s a possibly that it could go inside not meant for inside of your body then Linda said loudly with a line of people said the name of the private area I needed for . I said well Linda thank you now everyone knows my problem privacy was NOT respected by both then Linda said you yelling isn’t going to help you then I said you interrupting and not listening isn’t helping you so they gave me discount on the Correct medicine both were rude and shouldn’t be working with the public at all !!!!! I really didn’t want to put the problem in review this could have been a big mistake to give me the wrong medicine and Linda and pharmacist should be fired . Also my prescription were not being ready taking days to refill . I have switched pharmacy to Greenfield Rd now they have...
Read moreI feel the need to address all the one-star pharmacy related reviews. I worked at Walgreens and my husband still does, so I know why things take a long time and have to be done a certain way.
I don't remember when it changed, but the pharmacist HAS to hand you the prescription, even if it's just a refill and nothing's changed. Happens to me all the time. It's not a stupid store rule or anything, it's a law now.
As far as the long waiting time issue: Corporate has cut the budgeted hours for pharmacy. Not just at this store, but all stores. What this means, is a store only has a certain number of hours it can schedule people in pharmacy. Just because you don't see a lot of people working in a store, any store, don't assume it can be controlled at the store level. Insurance. Dealing with (our) insurance companies can be time consuming. I don't even know that much about it other than it's a huge pain. Calling doctor's offices/finding prescriptions/ figuring out why a prescription can't be filled/spending time on the phone/dealing with problems.
This might not really explain it, but people that work in a pharmacy never sit still. And there's a reason any health care field makes a great choice to go into; more and more "baby boomers" are retiring. Every Walgreens pharmacy is busy.
The best I can suggest, refill any prescriptions as early as possible - the pharmacy will hold them for a week. Try not to go during peak hours (noon, 5pm). Go inside instead of using the drive-thru. Try not to get angry. They're doing the best they can. I can't imagine it's all that fun for them, to be working as fast as they can, without ANY kind of break, waiting on impatient, possibly angry customers who might be upset about things they...
Read moreI was diagnosed with a DVT (Blood clot) at an ER very near to this Walgreens Pharmacy. The ER sent an electronic prescription for a 2 week supply of self administered blood thinner injections. When i went to the counter, i was told they only had a 2 day supply. Explaining that I was from out of town I asked her to call 1 of 2 24 hour Walgreens in my hometown. She took down the information and asked me to take a seat. After 10 minutes of watching her then process other prescriptions, I walked out to my car and called one of the 24 hour Walgreens. They had an ample supply and transferred the prescription to their store. There was a little difficulty in billing because of the price but once I explained that I had a blood clot in my arm, the pharmacist escalated it with corporate. This process took about twenty minutes of my time. I walked back into the store, leaned over the counter and told the young lady "Thank you for not helping me. I took care of it myself. " She responded "I am on hold with them now!" A 40 minute drive home and a $10.00 copay later, I am now comfortably resting in my recliner thanks to the Pharmacist Susan at the Walgreen's on 4 Mile Road and Douglas Avenue in...
