[solidcore] East Village — Local services in New York

This studio is gross with poor AC and the machines are dangerously close together. Worse than that though is the workout itself. I know this isn't technically pilates but rather "pilates inspired" however, as a pilates instructor, this shouldn't even be put in the same realm. The moves are held for an inappropriate amount of time causing most normal people to overcompensate by using the wrong muscles. They also don't focus on basic muscle groups like triceps during arm sequences or arm focused classes and don't give balance bars or have straps to hold onto during lunges for balance.

On top of all of this, I've never seen such a disjointed/confused room of students. Everyone is looking around constantly and doing different things, the instructors don't explain the moves or walk through transitions well and the springs are SO hard to change. For the price they charge, you'd think they would have instructors with basic body composition...

I have had only fabulous experiences at this location! Everyone who works front desk is incredibly welcoming, all the instructors have learned my name (after only a few classes with each!!) and always greet me with a very warm hello, smile, and wave. They are so knowledgable, and always provide tips on form, modifications, head positions, breathing, etc! The workout is incredible as well - I always leave shaking! It's definitely a challenge - I would really encourage interested students to take the Intro50 class when getting started to get the most out of their following Solidcore experiences. have seen my mind and body transform since getting stated at Solidcore 6 months ago, and I am looking forward to staying with this studio for many months to come. I'm so glad I discovered solidcore and SO glad there's one local to me in the East Village! The classes are forture (fun torture) - I love the vibe of the studios and the positive high energy instructors. I haven't taken a class that didn't leave me wobbly at the end (in a good way) and instructors are great about offering modifications for newbies like me. Awesome studio, 10/10 will do again and again...
