1804 Books — Local services in New York

Love the selection of books—some I haven’t been able to find anywhere else in NYC! The employee was super helpful. One of the books I was looking for, I (very poorly) described in just a few words, and they knew exactly what I was talking about.

Note: now that I’ve come here many times, there are tiny windows of time where a few people may gather at the front to sign in for a class (like the 5 min before a class begins). This doesn’t affect your ability to browse books and even sit in the cute connected cafe that has high ceilings and is surrounded by books, images, and flags. I've never seen a more impressive bookstore! The content is amazing and the people working there are so kind and helpful. I got a full tour of their selection - they have books on every subject from world history, to economics, to literary classics. 1804 Books is a great place to learn, meet people, and enjoy some good coffee/food/drinks at the nearby cafe. Staff is really really super duper friendly! They helped me find the book I want and I just sat there and enjoyed my quality solitude time with the books : ) they have such a comprehensive library that anyone can just spend an entire day there and absorb all the knowledge with the drinks from the People’s Cafe.
