I travel from Boston to NYC to get my hair done with Abby!!!! That is an overall color with balayage cut shampoo and blow-dry and an all out wonderful day. There is no one in Boston to compare with the quality of professionalism and attention given to you here. As far as the cost... I have paid the same amount at a high street name brand salon in Boston ( ok Vidal Sassoon) and have come out looking like a mess. Furthermore, when I expressed dissatisfaction there ( and it takes great effort and lots of courage for me to complain) I was made to feel idiotic as if I couldn't communicate my desires or appreciate "good" work. I am 62, in the performing arts industry, and have been getting my hair colored for 40 plus years. I know how to communicate with professional hair people. After the uniquely bad experience in Boston, I fled crying to NYC to ARTE Salon and to Abby to be treated kindly and taken seriously. A woman's hair is truly her crown and coming out of a day at the salon one should feel pleased by the result. I have had my hair done for special occasions at ARTE by the other stylists and I think everyone is great. Joseph, the owner, wouldn't tolerate any less. Also, whenever I leave Arte my friends can't stop complementing my color and cut. I highly recommend Arte Salon at 294 Elizabeth Street in NYC for professionalism, quality, artistry, and care. I'm not the client, my wife is. She discovered this place years ago through a mutual friend, and now travels the 2 hours there whenever needing a trim, cut, or color. I have no complaints as they always make her look even more fabulous than usual. As her "+1", I get to sit in the very comfortable rear lounge and watch the process as the staff constantly checks to make sure I'm comfortable and if I'm in need of a beverage. Every person there is super nice, and the vibe is very relaxing. Her stylist is Benjamin. Besides being the nicest person on the planet, his professional skills are amazing. My wife is always happy with the result, and I can tell by his interactions with her (and other clients) that he really listens and works to make them happy. My daughter has also become his client. As the gray hairs slowly appear on my head, he has gently suggested that he could work on that with a little color and trim. I'm getting close to taking him up...

I almost hate to write this review bc I don’t want it to be hard to get an appointment here, but this is hands down the best salon in NYC !! I’ve been seeing Sherene for years, and I don’t trust anyone else with my hair. She is truly the best, and just radiates sunshine energy. She always gives me the perfect cut for my face shape & hair type - respecting my preference for low maintenance upkeep. I recently tried balayage to camouflage my greys - leaving it to her to choose the right color - and I’ve never gotten so many compliments. Prices don’t break the bank.
