This was my third visit to the store and the reason for this low review. On my first visit to Astrid & Miyu, I made a reservation to be fitted for a bracelet. During my welding session, I purchased two bracelets and was told I had a year to make any need adjustments, etc. A week or 2 after my first visit, I was in the neighborhood and decided to swing by as I wanted to adjust one of the bracelets. When I walked in, I was told I would need an appointment, which was fine. Last night, I went on the website and made 2 appointments. One of the appointments was for an adjustment and the other was to have a new bracelet welded on. When I received the confirmation email, one appointment time was for downsizing and the other was for welding. When I got to the appointment, 10 minutes prior to my 12:40 appointment, I told the woman at the desk that I may have made an error when scheduling, as the closer I looked, I saw the Downsizing had "piercer" written under it. I explained that I wanted to downsize a bracelet and was confused why it said piercer. The women then proceeded to say, "it doesn't matter anyway because the welder called out sick." I asked if she had planned on calling or emailing those that had appointments, as I had left work early and traveled 45 minutes to get there. The woman said, "I did, I called and email your gmail account." I told her I didn't have a gmail account, it was ymail and confirmed that was the email listed in my account. I checked my missed calls and my messages and did not have a missed call from the store, I also didn't receive an email. When I left the store, I got an email at 1:20 saying my appointment was cancelled and I was going to be charged $30 for canceling the downsizing appointment. I will never shop at this store again. I was also going to buy 3 gift certificates for 3 friends to get welded bracelets. Due to the way this appointment was handled, this store lost out on $400+ which may not be a big deal to them but now I will never recommend this store when people ask where I got...
Read moreI would not come back to this piercing studio if it was the last one in the city. I got my rook pierced and although the piercer was very nice, she had to restick the needle in at least 5 times, prod, and use pliers because the earring wouldn’t go in, as I was in the chair for 5-7 minutes profusely bleeding. I’ve gotten my helix, flat, and conch pierced at other studios and did not experience remotely the same level of pain.
I understand some bleeding is expected with this part of the ear but it was pooling in my ear, and my friend who came to the appointment got her rook pierced at Astrid & Miyu in London and said she had 1/10th of the bleeding. She said my ear would continuously refill with blood.
After contacting the store, all they said was the experience varies for everyone and they could offer me 10% off for next time as if I would even consider coming back. You would be better off getting pierced literally...
Read moreI found Astrid & Miyu while searching online for a reputable piercing studio that was safe, sterile, pierces with a needle (not an earring gun) and also offers pretty jewelry. They have so many options here! I knew it would be several months before I'd be able to switch the earrings in my new double helix piercing, and wanted something I'd love while waiting for the piercings to heal.
All of the staff were friendly and welcoming when I arrived for my appointment. My piercer was Jess and she did a fantastic job. Jess checked in with me through each step of the piercing process and answered all of my questions. The two piercings were precise but fast and the discomfort from the needle was minimal both times. Two hours later, my ear doesn't hurt a bit.
I'll definitely visit Astrid & Miyu again and already have my next 3 ear...
