Let's get this out of the way right up front: If this show is even on your radar as a "maybe," hit Control-T for a new tab and get tickets immediately. We went because of my 15-year-old, who heard about the show through TikTok. I liked the couple-three songs I had heard, so I said sure, why not. This was one of the best decisions I've made in a long time. Primarily, Beetlejuice is a comedy, with lots of snappy, smart lyrics and fourth-wall-breaking meta-commentary. While deeply hilarious, the show also has a deft touch with bringing up sensitive topics in ways that aren't preachy or tactless (or, worse, boring). It's fitting, then, that the show becomes emotional (yet unexpectedly so) as it goes along.
The cast and crew were outstanding for our performance, but this has been covered in its many other five-star reviews, so the level of excellence we saw was somewhat expected. Something I haven't seen mentioned very much--that was, for me, completely unexpected--was what I came away with; namely, a slightly different outlook on death and dying. The whole production tackles this head-on; in fact, the lyrics of one of the first songs state it plainly: "Seriously, folks, this is a show about death" (also, one of the best songs is titled "Dead Mom"). It's something we don't talk about day-to-day. Perhaps we just don't want to be reminded that we get "one swing around the rodeo," and then we're done. The show succeeds in making the point that this isn't to be feared, death sucks but it's just a thing that happens, and in the meantime, we should make the most of this one life we have. "Death is gonna come to everyone you know so... instead of being terrified just be more yolo!" Maybe it would somehow make things better in general if more of us had this view. Beetlejuice has shown me that insight can come from the most unexpected of sources, as long as you're willing to buy the ticket and take the ride. So buy the ticket already! Much like the life this production holds dear, go in with an open mind and you'll never...
Read moreWow!Jolene and I have seen many shows on Broadway but BEETLEJUICE is definitely one of the top shows on the list! The energy, passion and excitement of these performers is contagious and you can’t help but get into the songs.
They get the audience involved and have a contest for the best dressed. Lidia will literally call that person out at the end and give a gift. so bring you best gothic outfit or black and white stripe get up!
Lidia and BEETLEJUICE get way more screen time here than in the movie and the storie is a little different but focuses less on the couple who die during the movie and more on the two stars BJ and Lidia.
The Marque is massive! It will take you a while to get to the bathroom and around here and the elevators are wild like giant quick elevator tubes in the center. The BEETLEJUICE fan art outside is so cool and drinks...
Read moreThis was my first time going to a Broadway show and I was so glad that I picked Beetlejuice as my first show. The show was funny, entertaining, amazingly organized, the theater design of the house was spectacular. I actually came alone to this show. The theater is very close and you can get a seat all the way in the rear and still enjoy the show as if it was up close and personal. The drinks aren't that expensive. You could actually stand in the back of the theater and still enjoy just as well. I spent about $90 on my ticket and the show was about 2hrs. The singing in the show was short and enjoyable it didn't drag at all. Beetlejuice was halarious... This show is also good for kids not too much Rated R or Mature content in...
