Walked in this morning to an associate eating her morning bagel sandwich and ice coffee laid out across the counter while she had her mask off chit chatting with the other associate and cashier. I only mentioned the mask bc they require and demand a mask while shopping in store but certainly don't adhere to the same guidelines. Not to mention, I wasn't greeted at all instead met with attitudes from Lauren and Heather like I was interrupting them with my desire to shop. Lol Once I gained the attention of Heather and told her what I was looking to purchase for my daughter she attempted to help but never informed me of the return/exchange policy. I only learned of it 25 minutes later after reviewing my receipt once back in my car. When I phoned to verify the policy the associate told me, "we have a sign in front of the register that we usually refer customers to" but I guess Heather forgot. Especially seeing as they were so busy chatting and eating in front of the same register....
Read moreI would not recommend this store to dancers of color at all. My sister is visiting Alvin Ailey for their summer dance intensive and we were recommended to go to Bloch to take advantage of a discount. If we knew how awful the service would have been we would’ve taken our business to Capezio. The entire time a blue haired employee followed us around the store constantly peaking their head around their shoulder as if we were going to steal something. Their demeanor the entire time was quite passive aggressive which was not appreciated. As we were leaving, after paying for our things we overheard them making sly comments with other employees and one of them muttered “ghetto” as we walked out the door. Never did I think I would experience such unprecedented racism due to the dancers of color they had hanging on the wall but I suppose that’s all for show. Additionally, some of the leotard material was uncomfortable and they had limited...
Read moreWas visiting NYC and didn’t book an appointment but decided to pop in anyway to have a look. My daughter was in a different brand of pointe shoes and with stock limitations with the current brand we decided to come into Bloch NYC. Martin greeted us with a smile and advised that he couldn’t take us but since his appointment hasn’t come yet he was ok to just see what the 15 min could take us. Luckily the client called and was running late and was able to find the perfect shoe for her. He was knowledgeable, helpful and very friendly making the experience amazing. We were lucky to complete our pointe shoe experience and walked out with a new pair of new pointe shoes after trying on several pairs. I highly recommend any parent that requires a new brand of pointe shoes in NYC to make an appointment to see Martin. We were just lucky and stars aligned for my ballerina to get fitted for new shoes. Thank you...
