Little Update: This store got really popular really fast as expected. I still think they are great, BUT... man... they are having trouble with inventory control. I mean they are out of stock on A LOT on stuff across departments. In other cases, they literally have a single item. Just be prepared to get there and not necessarily get what you needed. Really tells you that Target might want to investigate more locations in Manhattan. Revising down a star for that. Summary: Great Store with a lot of the basic stuff you need in the city. Hopefully they make it so that inventory from other stores can be ordered into this location for pick-up.
Crowds: I went to the pre-opening and each day the number of people does increase. I recommend going early vs peak hours to avoid crowds.
Check-Out: This was really efficient. I was surprised how fast the line moved.
Inventory: They actually have a pretty descent food section. Given the options are Whole Foods or Morton Williams, I am over the moon to have a 3rd option. Sometimes you just need things that aren't what the fancy folk of NYC want.
The beauty section is quite large. They likely went slightly too big with Beauty IMO. That said, they have really curated sections like soap and cleaners. I think it would be cool if Target allowed for you to order inventory from other stores and get it to this Target. In theory that is a possibility. In practice if you try to do it, so much is "not available at your store" it's no good.
I like their craft section. The toy section seems quite large. I'm also not convinced they did enough with the vertical space here. There is a home section as well with some cute rugs. Must have been really hard to curate inventory. They could have used 2x the space, I think.
Cleanliness. So far, this place is pretty spic and span. This is more or less opening month, so we'll see how that continues. It did appear they had plenty of staff to keep stock shelves up. I would say first thing in the morning is key to finding items, though.
Staff. I had a good experience with staff being pretty helpful. They seem ready to make this Target...

This week I placed an order for pickup. The pickup process was straightforward with no issues, however, when I got to the main floor, I briefly placed my 6 Target bags down to quickly make sure that I received all of the items that I purchased. Most of my purchases are for âorder pickupâ, so this is a regular habit for me.
The associate on the floor (I found out that they were âSecurityâ) approached me and asked, "What I am doing?" and before I could respond, stated that âNo one was allowed to âhang outâ in this areaâ. Confused, I replied that I just picked up my order and wanted to briefly review it before exiting the store. The associate completely disregarded my explanation and stated AGAIN, that âNo one is allowed to hang out in this areaâ. This employee was nasty!!
I understand that there may be an issue with people loitering in their store, however, it was clear, well at LEAST TO ME, that I was a paying customer, not someone whose intention was to âhang outâ in the store.
What makes this matter worse, was when I spoke to the Manager, they made all kinds of excuses for the employee. After this discussion, it was very clear that the customers are expected to âhurry up and buyâ and exit their store. We are not allowed to review our orders, or during bad weather, wait for our Ubers; no, we must leave IMMEDIATELY!! Target, this is no way to treat your customers! This is unacceptable!
Just in March, I spent over $700 at this location. I am a regular, not someone who is âhanging outâ in their store (ex: homeless, students, door dash workers, etc).
It is clear that Target hired a bunch of simpletons, who are unable to distinguish between a paying customer and someone who has no intention of patronizing their store.
Please avoid this location if you can! The decline in sales will hopefully teach them to treat their...
Read moreCashiers are VERY RUDE with a very few exceptions. I have worked in retail before and know it is not an easy job to deal with. If you have chosen to work in retail or customer service you need to have a certain approach to situations. I went to this target along with my child and went to purchase our items I pass a 50 dollar bill to the cashier she returns what is owed to me. As I check my change I see she gives me change of a 20. I proceed back to the counter and I let her know that I passed her a 50 very nicely as I do not tend to be nasty nor arrogant. She right away snaps at me and says " NO MA'AM YOU DID NOT GIVE ME A 50"!!! and said in a threatening tone that she was going to look at the cameras!! I held myself together because I was with my child and did not want to make a scene. She then had me stand on the side and didn't even go right away to check the cameras. She opened her register because she needed to give cashback to another customer and shockingly FOR HER the 50 were sitting right there on the 20 spot where SHE confused the bills. I do not like writing reviews but this I needed to do because the embarrassment this lady made me feel at first was unnecessary, uncalled for. I go to this target all the time so PLEASE target make sure you hire qualified personnel that really want to work. That treat people right I have been to many Targets and this one here on 61st and Columbus has by far the rudest , nasty , unprofessional attitude I have ever...
