Overall: Love the floor to ceiling windows in this apartment and modern finishes (floors, countertops, etc…). Large communal spaces and nice staff. Convenient location for transit.
Appliances: No issues yet. The dryer is a ventless dryer so it takes about 2 hours to dry a load, but that’s very common for in unit laundry in a skyscraper. Microwave, stove, AC, and dishwasher all work great.
Noise isolation: Windows are double paned so noise from the outside is minimized. Walls are well insulated. I’ve only ever heard my neighbors on rare occasions. However, the window frames themselves have poor noise isolation. I think they’re metal and any vibration on one level can be heard on another. So you can clearly hear when a neighbor opens/closes their blinds every morning and if they put a speaker right on the window sill for some reason, it will sound like the music is playing in your apartment. On the East side of the building there is a fire department so you can occasionally hear faint ambulances and fire trucks. Barclay’s Center itself produces next to no noise, surprisingly. For me these are all nit picks and some noise is expected when living in a city, but just calling it out for anyone noise sensitive.
Foot traffic: When basketball games or concerts end, there is an influx of foot traffic on Atlantic and Flatbush ave, shoulder to shoulder for about 30 minutes. Maybe once every month or two I will happen to be coming home when an event ends. In my opinion, it’s worth the trade off of being so close to so many subway lines.
Groceries: There are a Trader Joe’s and Whole Foods within walking distance. If you have a granny cart it’s very reasonable. Stop and shop and target are also just across the street, I just prefer other grocery stores.
Transit: There’s like 10 subway lines right by you. Easy to get anywhere in lower Manhattan and most of Brooklyn.
Common spaces: Very spacious, not overcrowded. Gym is very nice with 2 power racks. The pool is nice, but it’s only open for like 2-3 months and guests are NOT allowed.
Staff: People tend to only write reviews after they’ve had a bad experience, but I’ve had good experiences. Once, the package room lost my package and the building manager gave me a credit for the cost (like $50) for my next rent statement.
Utilities: You might see this on other reviews. For the first several months, the building was not yet charging for utilities or giving transparency on how much it might cost. Tbh, I didn’t mind it - it was basically a free 0% APR loan on utilities. But that just...
Read moreLived here 2 months & we're in love with our apt. It's small but the views are insanely amazing alongside the sunlight throughout the day. Natural light was a huge deal, so if that's your jam then this building is great esp. the S/E/W facing apt's. Our view is totally unobstructed + we get sunrise & sunset. The downside is the storage space is close to nothing, so we've had to be strategic & v.minimalistic. We can't hear any neighbours and haven't needed heating (in November) as it's so warm. They have a wifi rep that gave us a great discount - so far bills are looking good. The application process was quick & easy, we're international residents so we thought it might be a struggle but we were accepted within hours. The lounges are sufficient, the rooftop pool and grill area is great but the gym is mediocre due to the range and age of the machines. The concierge team is nice and efficient w/ packages.Tyler is awesome, so friendly and helpful. The location is perfect, if you commute into Manhattan or want a chopped cheese / late night cookies / target / whole foods/ Trader Joes / new iPhone - it's all within 10 mins walking distance. The noise with the windows open can be loud af even on higher floors but closed it’s relatively quiet. The biggest struggle so far and why I can't give it 5* is the processes for delivering new furniture. There's docs to sign, some the company (Rove Concepts) has never even heard of. We've had to change delivery companies and dates twice now - hopefully we’ll finally be able to get a sofa in soon!!! Hope this...
Read moreDuring my experience as a resident, I have observed several concerns regarding the management of the building under Oksana Jorge:
Communication Issues: The building manager is frequently unresponsive to calls, emails, or messages from residents, making it difficult to address urgent maintenance or other concerns in a timely manner.
Resident Engagement: Feedback and concerns from residents are often not acknowledged or addressed, leading to frustration and a lack of confidence in the management’s responsiveness.
Management Style: The approach to resident interactions can feel authoritarian and inflexible, which has created an environment that some residents perceive as intimidating or dismissive.
Impact: These issues have negatively affected residents’ experience and trust in building management. Timely communication and responsive problem-solving are critical for maintaining a safe, comfortable, and well-managed living environment.
Recommendation: It is recommended that building management especially Oksana Jorge, improve responsiveness, actively engage with residents, and adopt a more collaborative and professional approach to...
