A GEM!!!!! So glad I have this spot in my neighborhood and recommend anyone who likes games to come check it out if you're in Bay Ridge. Huge collection of titles across all console generations and genres. Can find good deals on systems and accessories too. The owner is great to talk to, has given me good advice on extending the life of my older systems or just chat about games while I'm browsing. I've traded in games once or twice, process was smooth and I got a decent amount in cash for a Nintendo DS and some games. I recommend following the store in Instagram too. The owner regularly posts updates on stock and is really responsive if you have any questions or if you're looking for anything specific.

To say this place was like stepping into a time machine to relive your childhood would be an understatement. The nostalgic experience I had when visiting this place a week ago made the inner child in me explode with joy! Seeing so many retro consoles, games, DVDs and VHS (you heard/read that right) in an organized fashion was overwhelming but in a good way! I even purchased this goodie that I had a blast with back in the day! ABSOLUTELY would recommend this place for any retro gamers out here! P.S: The staff were friendly and down to earth!

I'd like to start by saying that this is easily the best video game store that I've ever been to. Its looks might be deceiving at first, but this store owner knows how to work with what they have. The store is filled with all types of retro and modern games, with some of the best prices I've seen in NYC. You can tell the owner keeps everything clean and well-kept. The trade-in credit is great, with a vast assortment of games to choose from. I will definitely be coming back to this top tier gaming store!

I stumbled upon Brooklyn Game Shack during a weekend trip to the area, and boy, was I in for a treat! This retro game store is an absolute gem for any gaming enthusiast.

First and foremost, the owner is an absolute delight. They greeted me with a warm smile and a genuine passion for all things gaming. They're incredibly knowledgeable and were more than willing to chat about the latest additions to their collection or offer recommendations based on my interests. It's clear that they run this store not just as a business, but as a labor of love.

Now, let's talk about the games. Brooklyn Game Shack is a treasure trove for retro gamers like myself. The shelves are lined with classics from the NES, SNES, N64, and even some hard-to-find gems from older systems. Whether you're looking to relive the nostalgia of your childhood or discover vintage titles you missed out on, this place has you covered. Their collection is well-curated, and you can tell that the owner takes great care in sourcing quality games.

What surprised me the most was how affordable the games are. In an age where retro game prices can skyrocket, Brooklyn Game Shack offers reasonable prices that won't break the bank. You can indulge in your gaming passion without feeling guilty about your wallet.

The atmosphere in the store is cozy and inviting, making it easy to spend hours browsing through their impressive selection. It's a welcoming place for both long-time gamers and newcomers to the retro scene.

In conclusion, if you're a gaming enthusiast, Brooklyn Game Shack is a must-visit. With its friendly owner, fantastic collection, and budget-friendly prices, it's become my go-to spot for retro gaming treasures. I can't recommend this place enough – it's a true...

Cartridge game selection is unremarkable, but sometimes they have good games for good prices. I’ve had a few issues with some of the games not working or deleting saves.

One day, I visit the store and get there at 6:40pm. I ring the doorbell and wait a minute. The guy who always wears the face mask, who I believe is the owner, is sitting behind the counter, eating. He looks at me and then looks back at his TV and continues eating. I don’t ring the doorbell again and stand there, in windy 25-degree weather for two minutes, waiting. As I’m about to leave, he gets up and lets me in. I say hi, he ignores me. I look at his games for two minutes and proceed to exit. I say thanks and goodbye, and he doesn’t say a word, still being very smug and passive-aggressive. If he doesn’t want people showing up 20 minutes before he closes, then he should change the store hours.

A few months later, the same dude sold my family member a modded Classic NES unit with a bad controller, without disclosing either of those facts. When I told him the controller d-pad was stiff and asked if he could repair it, he declined and told me to find a video online explaining how to do it.

The first few times I went to the store, the guy was friendly and informative. I’ve only ever been cordial with him, I was never in the store for more than a few minutes each time, and I kept my presence light. In retrospect, the initial friendliness doesn’t seem genuine.

Because of the inconsistent quality of the stuff he sells, bad customer service, and bad attitude, I won’t be buying from this...

I found out about this place when i googled retro game stores & of course other stores popped up but i read the reviews for this one and i decided to trust them. i called to see if they had the game i wanted in stock and they did i asked if he can set it aside for me because i was coming from staten island and traffic at 2pm is a lil hectic and he was nice enough to put it aside for me which i appreciated so much ! ( i wish i would of asked for his name ) Walking in and seeing all the games and old systems i got so many flash backs from my younger years and can we talk about the prices?! I think we should i was so excited and pleased with the prices i went in for 1 game and left with 4 ! The prices are affordable and reasonable and its rare to find that now in days and not only are the prices good let me say customer service was great the employee that helped me was so cool and genuine i would ask about some games and he would give his honest opinion my boyfriend even felt comfortable having conversation with him and he has social anxiety thats how pleasant the vibe was i deff will be back for more games this place is awesome , the employees are awesome! deff worth the 40 min ride...
