The experience from intake to visit was exceptional!
I was referred to Brooklyn Mint Dental by a family member who also tends to feel nervous during appointments and I heard such wonderful things about them that I was inspired to check them out for myself.
All the wonderful feedback was true. Their intake process was smooth; everyone was supportive and communicative, and everything felt easy. The new patient forms not only touch on the logistics for their purposes, but also target what your goals are as a patient and what you need to feel comfortable throughout your visit. Each detail was extraordinarily thoughtful.
On the day of my appointment, I arrived and was greeted warmly at the front desk. The office is gorgeous and definitely a relaxing environment. What really made an impression on me though, was when Dr. Bowers came out to meet with me in the front having read my new patient forms and took the time to sit with me to discuss each point as well as my previous dental history. The chat was productive but felt relaxed and informal, which was what I needed as I came in quite nervous. Dr. Bowers took some info from me, discussed the process, and assured me that it was a judgement free zone (That statement alone made a world of difference.) The amazing staff there guided me through each step of the x-rays and other assessments and even took extra steps at my request to ensure that I felt comfortable and confident throughout. We laughed and joked and for a while, I forgot I was at the dentist. The staff are so very kind and know just how to work with people to get the necessary things done while making it enjoyable. Yes, I had a blast at the dentist! Dr. Bowers then came in and did a comprehensive exam while walking me through each step. He answered questions that I had and cleared some things up which I had been worried about for some time. I was also provided with some items to help me feel comfortable (a blanket and a neck pillow). When the cleaning began, they offered to play music. Throughout the cleaning we jammed to Pearl Jam, and I watched nature shows on the TV on the ceiling. Throughout the cleaning, Dr. Bowers checked in with me to make sure that I was good and really made sure I felt in control and comfortable. Afterwards, we discussed next steps with regard to my goals and a plan.
Like I said, overall, a truly exceptional experience. The time dedicated to really getting to know me as a person, patience with what I needed to feel at ease, and attention to detail was what sets them apart.
With regard to billing: They are an OON provider. You will need to do a bit of research with your insurance to confirm what they will cover and what they won't. Brooklyn Mint's insurance concierge will walk you through the steps. You will pay the entire bill upfront with Brooklyn Mint, they submit the claim, and insurance will reimburse you. The only drawback for me, was that my insurance was supposed to cover the full amount but denied part of the claim. My advice would be to budget accordingly, keeping in mind that insurances are fickle.
Everything taken into consideration, I would recommend Brooklyn Mint to anyone who wants to come away from a dental visit in a great mood and feeling confident and well cared for.
Truly...thank you to everyone who...
Read moreFor the 1st time in my life, I actually enjoyed a dental visit! Unbelievable, considering my lifelong phobia about dentists! But, thanks to Dr. Alice and all her staff, I was finally able to get the care I needed without fear, stress or dread. There are SO many good things about Brooklyn Mint Dental that I barely know where to start! So…when I arrived and checked in, I was offered a choice of coffee or sparkling water and given a warm towel! What other dentist’s office does that? Dr. Alice came out to greet me - with a hug! After just a few minutes a happy, smiling dental hygienist escorted me to an exam room- which had a TV above the chair to watch whatever I wanted to help me relax. And there was a screen facing the chair, welcoming me - by name! I was offered a blanket for warmth and comfort and given a small weighted blanket that Dr Alice explained was to simulate a hug to release endorphins! And those are just a few of the many, many things they provide to help you feel as relaxed as possible! The X-rays are “ high tech”, much more comfortable than the traditional way! The hygienists who did my X-rays were very, very patient, gentle and thorough, making sure every X-ray came out perfect,as they can view them in “ real time”. Afterwards, Dr Alice came in, gently examined my mouth and also did a TMJ exam. She,then, sat and talked to me about my options for treatment regarding not just my oral health but also my overall health for a better quality of life. I was given an estimate for a treatment plan but Dr. Alice made sure I knew the final decision was up to me…absolutely NO pressure or “ scare tactics” ! Throughout the entire time there, I was treated as a real human being and not just another “appointment“/ “body”. Every one of my fears and concerns was attended to, including being given organic applesauce since I hadn’t eaten all day! Whether you have a fear of dentists or are just looking for a more positive dental experience, Brooklyn Mint Dental is THE place to go! I promise you, you’ll walk out of there feeling better and happier than when...
Read moreIf you said the highlight of your weekend was going to the dentist, you either had a really bad weekend or you went to Brooklyn Mint.
This place is fantastic; it’s beautiful inside, I was given a tour of the offices and the fancy machines and gadgets they use, and I was offered a glass of Prosecco that I got to drink DURING THE EXAM (they even topped me off!). The practice feels like it was designed to reduce anxiety about going to the dentist; I heard they even have massaging eye masks, but I didn’t use them because I was busy watching nature documentaries on the ceiling TV during the cleaning. Dr. Alice and Dr. Chris are super friendly, thorough, and knowledgeable, and Larissa at reception was so sweet and made me feel like a good friend even though we’d never met before. When I was all done, I got a report to take home with information about what they found, what I was doing well, and areas to monitor for future visits, which is great because I tend to forget anything doctors or dentists tell me the second I leave the office.
I also appreciated that they are open on weekends, since it’s not always easy to take a day off work to go to the dentist (especially if you’re working in the arts or in the service industries).
I was truly blown away by Brooklyn Mint, and it felt like upgrading to first class and realizing this is how you should always feel when you go to the dentist, not scared, spartan, and kind of bummed out. I know it sounds like real hall monitor energy to say it, but I’m actually looking forward to going back for my next visit. It’s what self-care...
