Early March, I connected with one of the agents here in New York to rent a room in an apartment with other roommates. Made a deposit for the room within two days of checking the place out while waiting to find an extra roommates. As the end of my current lease got closer, I communicated with the agent about the progress with getting a third person (even got the permission to advertise on various Facebook groups) Unfortunately none of the people that responded liked the room. My agent told me to start looking for other places as I had about a 10 days left to move and promised to start processing the refund of my deposit. I told her as soon ax I was able to find another place (about 6 days before moving) and she confirmed starting the refund process.
It's been almost 4 months now and I still haven't received my refund of $1425. After multiple requests, I got a supposedly positive update in May when I was told to come to the office in midtown to get a check. Got the check and was ordered by the receptionist to wait till the next day before cashing it, which I did. To my utter surprise, the check bounced after a couple days. This happened early June. I've tried reaching out multiple times afterwards (including calling, even filed a complaint with the franchise) but nothing đ. This is worse as I was given reassurance about finally getting my refund only for the rug to be pulled from under my feet. Even got an overdraft from this.
I sent an email to the manager and other staff members back in mid-July from which i got a response to send my zelle information (which I did). Since then, I haven't heard back from them nor received my money.
Can't talk for the other companies under Century 21, but the people in the Manhattan's office are unreliable and untrustworthy. Working with them is a risk, which I didn't realize until it was too late due to their friendly facade. Since no one is responding to me, I decided to make this public as it would be harder to ignore my issue here, also, warn others about the behavior of the people running...
Read moreAs I eagerly submitted my application, I began to wonder what my future looked like with this newly opened door as an opportunity. I began doing my research as I anticipated a call that could change my career for the better.
5:59 came along with butterflies full of nervousness as they would for any other interview.
Zach answered, very faintly, without giving me an opportunity to even introduce myself, he stated all his information all in the same breath within a minute and a half.
I even went as far as asking him, more than once, to repeat the information because it sounded as if he were standing in a basement without signalâ the call was consistently cutting in and out.
Zach heard my repeated request and responded in a loud sigh indicating a loss in his patience. As he proceeded to re-inform me of his details in a very slowly demeaning tone. As if i wasnât capable of fully grasping the idea of a course being $300.
I then asked him if there was anything else he had missed within those two minutes of a conversation being one sided. Zach said no, told me to reach out to him if I was interested and ended our call.
What could had been an positive informative half hour conversationâ turned into a two minute call where the interviewer made no attempt to hide his desperation to end the call sooner leaving me absolutely astonished.
My experience was more than AWFUL to say the least.
Thank you very much Zach from Scope Realty.
You will not be seeing my name in any of your applications moving forward from this unprofessional experience nor will I be recommending this company to anyone I know.
Best of luck to the company and to Zach and his...
Read moreI absolutely hate apartment searching in NYC. I was lucky to come across an agent who made it rather enjoyable for once. Even through all my grumpiness and pickiness, Tony was extremely professional and persistent. He worked around my schedule and was fun to talk to, too. Usually I drop the agent after they've shown me the apartment that I made the initial appointment for because I know they'll just drag me around showing all the apartments they have within my budget, but they'll show me nothing that I'm actually looking for... but not with Tony. He listened carefully and immediately eliminated everything that he knew I wasn't looking for. He's very observant as well; I was beginning to grow tired from running around so he offered to call us an uber to take us to the next viewing. I actually ended up liking a lot of the apartments he had to show me because of this, and that never happens for me. He even made arrangements so I could see the unit like 5x before I decided to apply because I really wanted it to be the perfect apartment, with no compromise of any sort. Even throughout the application, he answered my many many questions thoroughly and almost instantly. He made sure I had all my paperwork in order and told me how to fill things out to make everything most efficient. I'm so glad I gave into his persistence at the start because I wouldn't have been able to move into the place I am in now, which is nothing below what I wanted. I highly recommend Tony at Scope Realty, he...
