City Papery — Local services in New York

I'm so bummed that City Papery took over what used to be Paper Presentation. I've been depending on Paper Presentation for over a decade for all my paper needs. It was an absolute critical staple! The selection now is not nearly as thorough, they've reorganized the store and it now feels rather awkwardly sparse, and they no longer keep paper and envelopes out on the floor for you to peruse and pick from yourself. Their new system involves a small wall of sample cards, you pick from these cards and bring it up to the counter asking the side wall, and someone brings you the corresponding envelope or paper from the shelves behind the counter. Unfortunately the girls who work behind the counter don't seem to have any idea what they have available or really seem to understand the nuances of various paper and envelopes types at all. I was told they don't carry envelope liners when I was clearly holding one in my hand, taken directly from a shelf next too the counter they were working at. A simple question of "Do you carry this liner in a smaller size?" stumped them and required multiple back and forths to get the point across. I have been to City Papery on multiple occasions for fine stationery, and for seasonal gift items in the past year, but I don’t usually write reviews. However, on my most recent visit there to look for custom-sized presentation boards for my science class of 18 students, I felt I needed to share my wonderful experiences at this family owned business. I’m always greeted warmly by the staff upon entering the store, and on this most recent visit, I was helped by a very knowledgeable team at the printing counter. We discussed the various board options available. They cut the presentation boards to the requested size, and when they were ready for pick up, I received email from the Printing Dept. Not only was my order ready several days before my scheduled pick-up date, but they also did a great job of wrapping up the boards for easy transport. I highly recommend City Papery to anyone looking for excellent customer service, fine and hard to find stationery items, and many other unique seasonal gift items. We had a truly fantastic 11/10 experience with City Papery. My fiance and I had a large wedding suite to print (invitations with multiple inserts, dinner menus, drink menus, ceremony pamplets, etc) and everything was done to perfection. The designs we had were done with watercolor and the final results made it look like each individual print was hand done.

The complexity of our entire job cannot be understated, but City Papery handled it with expertise. Pouya and David specifically helped us and were absolutely wonderful. They allowed us to sit there with them to review test prints, make design changes to the files, and test print again. Pouya specifically was wonderful to work with. He was easy going, had expert knowledge, and was very patient with us throughout the entire process.
